Storyboard for project 4.

First Picture: First iteration for storyboard. I did a basic concept of my old poster from project 2 using the value of healthy habits.

Second  Picture: Second/Current iteration for storyboard. I thought about the story a bit more and incorporated Ta Va and made the healthy habits value a bit more clear using an HP and Stamina bar in his gauntlet.

Values in project 3 - DSDN 101

The values we decided to incorporate in this stop motion are daily stress, healthy eating and evolving/learning to overcome situations. Daily stress is shown through the missile from the tank. It shows how the stress is built up and ends up exploding at some point. I incorporated my healthy eating through the car driving away from the tank, using the theme of being healthy enough to able to out run the danger from my poster. Evolving and learning to overcome situations is shown through the car dodging the missile from the tank, getting through the explosion unscathed.

The first image is the original story board for the group project in DSDN 101. We changed the story a bit since we found out that the story did not correlate with the values in our posters.  

The theme is the same, but we have played around with the elements in the story to fit all 3 of our values. We wanted to make the animation fun and enjoyable while keeping it within the brief so we kept the tank and the explosions just for that purpose.

DSDN 101 - Project 3 - Progress 16/05/18

We are currently thinking about how to split the workload with the after effects animation. I have also gotten a story board set and we are discussing if we need any changes on it + talking about materials for the scene and set up.

These are my final poster concepts for project 2 - DSDN 101.

My first poster focuses on connectivity using the lines connecting from the light bulb to show progression from a single idea. The value I picked was Whai Matauranga, so I tried my best to create a poster that shows how being connected can lead to innovation. I wanted to show progression through the black and white contrasts, showing the movement from the old technology to the new technology that was they were based from. Using the information gathered from the past to create new things in the future was the main theme of this poster.

In my second poster, I wanted to have fun with the idea of being healthy and playing games. I used the game aspect to grab the attention of my main target audience which is students in Uni and people who like to play games often. Using the bright red, I wanted to the people to focus on the person in armour first to represent a person at peak performance, compared to a person who is not which is shown by the little figure in the back. The dragon in the back is supposed to be menacing, giving people an incentive to get healthy and a reason to keep going, which is to be able to run away from this monster.

DSDN 101 - Poster 2 

I tried my best to make my poster design better based on the feedback I received from the friday tutorial. I started with the amount of detail on the person and the dragon. I decided to switch the green dragon to a purple and black dragon to give it a fairly menacing presence so that people understand that they should be running away from this monster. This helps with the dragon’s main purpose which to give an incentive to be health so that they can run from it. I decided to give the person a fairly light shade of red since I feel crimson red would show death rather than health. The colour red can be associated with strength and power which help shows that the person running is healthy and at peak performance to be able to out run this monster. I wanted to keep the apple so I decided to try and add a white outline since it contrasts with the aggressive colours such as the red and black while showing the vibrant colours of the apple. I used the green and yellow to do this more effectively rather than keeping the apple only red. This also helps show that he has bitten off of it and shows that this is why he is healthy and fit.I have also resized the font to keep it more consistent with the format I am trying to go for. I also played around with the composition to help with the negative space from the previous design. I have also added the little person to give a comparison to a fit and healthy person with a person that is on well rested and not eating healthy which helps show the conciquences of not taking care of your body. I think I did a pretty good job with the poster but I still feel there is a lot of room to improve.  Overall, I am happy with the design since I had fun with it and hope others will like it as well.

DSDN101 - Poster 2 - Progress

So i have changed the person’s composition from a static pose to a running pose to help show the “danger” of not being healthy portrayed by the monster flying close behind him. I also added an apple in his hand to give a sort of focal point and to show what he is eating to stay fit. I will add more detail during the weekend and will continue to fix this idea using the feed back tomorrow in the tutorial.

Paul Alfonso - DSDN 101 - Poster 2

Currently, I have 2 iterations of the A4 draft poster.

Poster 1-

I wanted to have fun in the first poster, using a games health and stamina bar to show a person’s health in a simple but effective way. I plan to keep the person as a black outline to make the focus on the words and the “danger” in the form of the monster. The monster in this poster is supposed to be an incentive to keep healthy or else you will be “eaten”, which is to not be able to keep up with work as best as you can. This is a fun design that I feel appeals to students, or people who typically like games.

Poster 2 - 

This poster is very straight forward and shows that to keep the metaphorical gears running in your brain, you have to balance your day to keep going. I used the arrows for transition to give a general idea of what is needed to keep your body healthy.

These are the posters that I have used to start my first iterations. I wanted a very simple poster design, so I focused on the posters with clean and sharp shapes. I also added a poster using some typography into the mix. I’m going to try a straight forward design that shows and tells exactly what I want it to say. I want to use a lot of imagery based on the first 4 posters and some typography at the end to make my intention clear for the people who are going to look at my poster.

DSDN 101 - Target Audience - Students - Poster 2

My audience will be students, but more specifically those who like games. I will try to incorporate icons/thumbnails that are similar to icons found in video games to try and grab the attention of my target audience. This time around, I want to try a small assortment of bright colours to show contrast and to help the poster pop out better.
