Frustration
One of the most frustrating aspects of my sex and love addiction is my sometimes remarkable ability to waste time.  I watch a lot of TV, but I rationalize my way through the hours by telling myself that the history show I’m watching is fascinating, it’s a movie I’ve always wanted to see, or the news program I’m viewing truly merits my attention.  Most distressing of all, sometimes I just sit and watch, knowing I shouldn’t be watching, telling myself that I am wasting time and I have work to do, but still I watch.
This is my primary motivation for engaging in psychotherapy with a psychologist who specializes in sex and love addiction and participating in 12 Step meetings.  I’m not able to get important work done and I’m not able to enjoy my personal interests in film, music, literature, cooking and wine and most important of all, enjoying the guilt-free time of “my loving companion and my companionable lover”, my wife.
Sex and love addiction saps my life away, and it’s worth every effort to regain my sobriety and to become the person I was meant to be: sober, kind, empathetic, loving, creative, productive, and happy.
Wish me success; I have a lot of hard work in front of me.
