i think the near-extinction of people making fun, deep and/or unique interactive text-based browser games, projects and stories is catastrophic to the internet. i'm talking pre-itch.io era, nothing against it.

there are a lot of fun ones listed here and here but for the most part, they were made years ago and are now a dying breed. i get why. there's no money in it. factoring in the cost of web hosting and servers, it probably costs money. it's just sad that it's a dying art form.

anyway, here's some of my favorite browser-based interactive projects and games, if you're into that kind of thing. 90% of them are on the lists that i linked above.

Cookie Clicker - different but felt weird not including it. by Orteil.

if you're ever thinking about making a niche project that only a select number of individuals will be nerdy enough to enjoy, keep in mind i've been playing some of these games off and on for 20~ years (Alter Ego, for example). quite literally a lifetime of replayability.

if you like crafting and also free things, might i suggest the antique pattern library?

it’s a not for profit that’s gathering books, patterns, and other materials related to crafting that are out of copyright (or getting permission from copyright holders in some cases) in order to share them online. they scan items, clean them up, then make everything available for free!

free things are great, especially when you’re just starting to get into something. like oh, i’m supposed to spend money on this hobby i just picked up 20 minutes ago???

the first time i ended up on the site, i seriously spent hours just trawling through everything. there’s the usual suspects like knitting, crochet, embroidery, but there’s also woodwork, calligraphy, and books on things like how to mount and frame pictures. with cross stitch patterns, they also make modern charts with the dmc colour codes available.

My toxic trait is that I've never had wagyu but I don't think it would be that good.

People who rave about it don't even season it and barely cook it, then praise how much fat is in it. That's like, the grossest part of a steak. If they seasoned it and slow cooked it to render the fat down I'd want to try it. But tiny thin slices of raw unseasoned beef just isn't appetizing in the slightest

Caitlyn Kiramman they could never make me like you. I genuinely hate her character and Vi deserves better. Actually everyone that ever had to meet her deserves better. I have zero sympathy for the silver spoon spoiled cop dictator. "Her mommy died" the Cait defenders scream. Idgaf. She used that as an excuse to dive headfirst into her prejudice. Like she was waiting for an excuse to dehumanize an entire people for her own power. She's the writer's special little mary sue that can do no wrong and never has to face the consequences of her actions. Her story could have been good. She wasn't this bad season one. Season two was an assassination of story integrity and showrunners admitted that everything that made their ip a success was an accident. In conclusion. Fuck her. Cait defenders, get a better argument. Ps if you like her in fannon, headcannon, fanfic, character study, whatever, then this post isn't about you. I cannot stand the people that try to defend away her direct actions in the actual story. They could have made her not a fascist. They could have committed to making her a villain. Instead they made her a fascist that everyone loves and never faces a single real lesson about her bias and hatred. Garbage writing.
