Okay, so this link here is a link to my short story “Rapunzel, Rapunzel,” which is a modern-set story based on the popular fairy tale princess named Rapunzel (obviously). This was my entry for Target’s Once Upon Now contest, and it would mean a lot if you read it and gave me feedback! If you do choose to, you can vote* for it to help me raise my chances of winning the contest. Also, you can share it with your friends to spread the word and help me gain more support for my writing. Thank you, have a nice day!
*NOTE: You need a Wattpad account to read, though you may log in with Facebook or Google+. Also, votes for the contest only count for the first chapter/part of the story.

“Cloud Tsunami” Over Sydney
A bizarre meteorological event hit the coast of New South Wales, Australia over the weekend. Dubbed a “cloud tsunami” on Twitter, this massive wave in the sky measured several kilometers long and swept over the city of Sydney, bringing with it powerful thunderstorms, heavy rains, and forceful winds that required the Australian Bureau of Meteorology to issue a warning for the surrounding area.
The massive formation is actually called a shelf cloud, composed of arcus clouds. The shelf cloud is typically the leading edge of a thunderstorm, attached to the base of the parent cloud that contains the storm. The strange wave-like appearance is caused by the cool sinking air from the storm’s downdraft spreading out over the land, meeting the warm air being drawn into the storm’s updraft. (Source)

my thoughts on feminism...
BEFORE YOU READ: i haven’t done too much research. most of this is purely my opinion, of course with some facts off the top of my head. again, not too much research. maybe i’ll change over time. who knows. i’m only human. please refrain from attacking me for having these views if yours contrast mine. thank you in advance.
1. hmm social standards. they have been that way for pretty much forever, patriarchy, men always being in power. i honestly do not mind this, that is until the man in power abuses that power somehow. for example, a man being the head of the household: if he’s abusive and constantly abuses the women and children in the house (physically and/or verbally) then he does not deserve that “power”. men do not own women, nor are they actually more “superior” in the way that some people may put it. you don’t have to be in favor of patriarchy, but if someone (especially a woman) is okay with it, don’t attack them.
2. sexualizing, dehumanizing, degrading, etc. women are NOT objects. i do believe in dressing modestly (of course unless it’s hot then sure wear shorts and stuff like that) as the better choice, but i guess it’s however you see it. you can’t control men’s hormones, and like many feminists say, how you dress isn’t always a major factor in assault and things like that. you. can’t. control. men’s. hormones. if your overall physical appearance turn a guy on, whoops. you can’t do anything about that. but for you horny men out there, THAT IS NO EXCUSE TO CROSS THE LINE AND ATTACK A GIRL BECAUSE SHE’S “HOT”. her clothing, her body, that’s her. it’s YOUR choice whether to succumb to those horrible temptations and go against someone’s one will to fulfill your own desire. (also, don’t get mad about girls being barely dressed in music videos. they chose to be in the video and they were willing to do it. don’t say it’s “degrading” and crap when it was THEIR choice, plus i’m sure 95% of you put #freethenipple in your instagram bios and stuff.)
3. wage gap?? as a thirteen year old, i’m not affected by this. maybe it’s one of those things you have to experience yourself to know what’s it like. i don’t know. but this is what i think: what’s the deal? i don’t know if it’s real or not- so many people are saying women get paid 77 cents out of a man’s dollar yet others say it doesn’t exist. whether it does or not, ask yourself this: is your pay enough to support you (and possibly your family)? does your job make you happy? if your job does not support you, get a new one. you should be able to support yourself with whatever you have. if it doesn’t make you happy, either get a new job or suck it up. i honestly do not see the problem with a wage gap if both of those answers are a yes to you. shoot me with whatever you have, but that’s what i see for now.
4. misandrist or feminist? honestly, if you call yourself a feminist yet shame men for simply having XY chromosomes, you might as well call yourself an ignorant misandrist. like how not all “feminists” are “crazy”, not all men are “pigs”. if you don’t like stereotypes, stop stereotyping men. i shouldn’t even have to mention this, but it needed to be said.
5. girls can do whatever boys can do! yeah, they can, but admit it, women are NATURALLY born weaker than men. yes, women, exercise exercise exercise! but don’t let being able to break your boundaries blind you from the truth. women are naturally born weaker than men, but women can work to achieve the same level as men. this is not meant to be degrading, if anything it might be a new goal!
6. girls can ask boys out too! i’m sorry but i like it classic. i’m waiting for a guy to come into my life and sweep me off my feet. does that mean i’ll say yes to any boy who asks me out? no. of course i want a guy who can prove to me he’s worth it. i guess girls can ask boys out too, but i just feel iffy about it. girls can definitely hint at their feelings and whatnot, but i just don’t feel too strongly on them actually asking a guy out.
this is all i can think of touching on for now. let me know if there are anything i missed. again, please refrain from attacking me for having this kind of view unless you really want to i guess. if you really read all this, thank you (i think). feel free to tell me how you feel and/or shoot me with some facts you might have. :)
