Lately I've been allotting some of my time to character sprite animations. Something I've noticed is how I seem to prefer animations that are a little more 'abstract'.

On the left we have a pretty rudimentary walking animation. It's not bad, but I found that removing a couple of the frames and adding a sharper bounce is nicer. It doesn't make logical sense to me, unless I frame it in terms of the phenomenon in art where a lack of something is better than the presence of something that's slightly wrong.
