Carrot Soup: page 44
While I intended to recreate entire meals, I've been trying to test single recipes. Today's recipe is carrot soup, which was eaten by Katniss, Peeta, and Effie on the first day on the train from District 12 to The Capitol.
My recipe was carrot basil soup. It's sweet and creamy and as thick as good gravy.
2 1/2 cups sliced carrots
1 1/2 cups vegetable broth
1 tablespoon and 1/2 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon flour
1 cup cream
2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
1-2 tablespoons chopped yellow onion
1 clove garlic, chopped
salt and pepper to taste
Steam carrots until tender. Cook onions and garlic in 1/2 tablespoon butter until garlic is slightly brown around the edges and onions are clear.
Blend carrots, garlic, and onion with half of broth until smooth. Set aside.
In saucepan, melt 1 tablespoon butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and basil. Add cream all at once. Cook and stir until slightly thickened and bubbly. Add blended carrot mixture and remaining broth. Salt and pepper to taste.
Garnish with basil leaf. Enjoy!
(I'll add pictures later. I currently only have my cell phone camera)

Welcome to Panem Cuisine!
Being the nerd I am, I decided that I would go through The Hunger Games books and write down everything that the characters are throughout the novels. The largest volume of food is consumed in The Hunger Games, and the least in Mockingjay. Since recording all of the foods, I've been compiling and creating suitable recipes. Please feel free to ask questions, submit recipes, and show off your finished Hunger Games meals.
