Hi, Chalex shippers! How are you doing on this beautiful day?

Just a quick reminder that our current event is still open for applications! Registrations for both artists and writers are open until August 31st. Don’t leave it to the last minute to join the fun! Come with us and bring your amazing contributions to our beloved ship.

Here are some important dates to keep in mind for the first part of the Chalex Reverse Bang 2020:

Registration deadline (for artists and authors): 31.08

Due date for artists: 03.09

Art preview for authors: 04.09

Claiming for authors: 05.09 - 07.09

Artists/Creators

Anyone interested in participating as an artist/creator can do so via the application form https://forms.gle/sxpvViNyS7QnN1GE6. The due date for artwork is 3rd September 2020.

What sort of art is accepted?

Good question! Drawings of all sorts (traditional, digital, comics etc) are allowed. Edits, gifsets and mood boards can be accepted as well if they can inspire a 3000 words accompanying story. Submissions such as icons and wallpapers will not be accepted however as it is difficult to create a story from those mediums.

What are the art requirements?

Naturally, the most important requirement is that it is Chalex artwork. We recommend at least 540px in width overall and correct sizing for gifs to fit into a tumblr post so that it will not be pixelated or have weird proportions once uploaded.

Are there any limits or restrictions?

All artwork for the Reverse Bang must be safe for work. No sexually explicit content, blood and gore is allowed for this challenge.

How will I submit my work? Submissions will be collected either through email or Google Drive. More information will be shared later once things are finalised. Please do not post your work anywhere before the Reverse Bang ends. This project is a collaboration and both artwork and story will be published simultaneously in early October.

Is there a limit on artwork that I can submit?

Nope. Submit as many as you like!

How do I connect with the writer?

Once writers have claimed the artwork, we will send both you and the writer each other’s information for you to get in touch.

This challenge is a collaborative effort, and we encourage the artists to share their vision for the artwork with the writer so that both of you will be proud of the final result!

This is so exciting, can I start now?

If you already have an idea of what you’re going to do then definitely go for it! Our only request is to follow the requirements and not share your art or progress.

Writers

Anyone interested in participating as a writer can do so via the application form https://forms.gle/nmt13diTYSeB1yLN9. The due date for the  finished story is 29th September 2020.

What are the requirements for the story?

Naturally, it should be a Chalex fanfiction. The minimum word count is 3000, but if you want to write much more than that you’re definitely encouraged to do so!

The story must be prompted by the artwork. Remember, this event is about collaboration, so please contact the artist and discuss your idea with them. Writers should also respect the artists vision for the story and take that into account as well in creating the final product.

Is there anything off limits?

The same rules for artists apply here as well. All content must be safe for work. No explicit sex, nudity, blood and gore will be allowed.

I don’t understand how claiming works? How do I claim artwork?

To put it simply, writers are allowed to preview the artwork before everyone else and could claim which artwork you would like to write for. For more information, check out ‘Claiming’. The maximum number of artwork that can be claimed by a writer is 2.

I’m hyped!

Announcing: Chalex Reverse Bang

Hello, Chalex lovers!

We’re back from a successful appreciation week to bring you guys one more special event.

Guess we can all agree that there’s no such thing as ‘too much Chalex content’, right? With that in mind, why not join the talents of our amazing artists and writers under one collaborative event this time? We’re happy to invite you all to join the CHALEX REVERSE BANG 2020!

Reverse Bang? How does it work? The main point of this event is to encourage our artists and writers to work together! So this is how it goes: artists are free to let their imaginations run wild and create their Chalex-themed pieces. Once they are submitted, writers will have the opportunity to choose one art that speaks the most to their inspiration and write a companion story based on it.

Hmmm, interesting. When is this taking place? We’re kickstarting applications on August 13th. Artist will have time to submit their work until the 3rd of September, our deadline for writers will be on September 29th. We have a full timeline planned to give both artists and writers plenty of time to work — we’ll explain it in detail on upcoming posts.

Ok, cool! How do I submit my application? We’re opening subscriptions for artists and for writers, so everyone will have a chance to be a part of this project. Keep an eye on our next posts! We’re bringing you the rules, the detailed timeline, and the application forms — everything you need to know to be a part of this amazing event.
