How do I choose the right Salesforce Consultant?
Now there’s a question.
And funnily enough, here’s a balanced, condensed answer with our five top tips:
1.       Be informed – you are buying into a framework with amazing capabilities out of the box and limitless possibilities when you consider additional applications. Watch free demo videos online to get a sense of Salesforce.
2.       Find a certified Salesforce consultant, ideally with experience working in your sector but definitely with experience in multiple organisations.
3.       Meet with the consultant – ask as many questions as you like. Talk about what you are after and how they might go about helping you to achieve this through Salesforce. Consulting is a people business – make sure you get on with your new best friend!
4.       Ask said consultant if they have any testimonials. Ask if their previous/current clients might be up for a visit/chat so you can get an idea of what they were like and how they worked.
5.       Ask for a proposal with a price. Make sure follow-up/on-going support is an option.

Why Salesforce?
If you’re looking to move into the cloud, you’ll have no doubt been researching solutions for yourself. We wouldn’t expect anything less – your business is lucky to have you!
Owl Consultancy specialises in Salesforce (well it is the world’s number one cloud-based CRM after all). So here are 10 reasons that might help you seriously consider Salesforce and why Owl Consultancy might be the wisest choice for you when it comes to hiring an experienced, certified and personable Salesforce guru:
1.       Owl Consultancy can translate your business needs into a Salesforce solution without blinding you with science or technical jargon. We have over 20 years of business analysis experience in a range of industries. Process-mapping can be built into your agreement so you can see what benefits Salesforce will afford your business.
2.       Salesforce is really flexible – you can start small and stay small or start small and increase as your business requires. This enterprise class CRM really is just as suitable for one man band outfits and small businesses as it is for large-scale global organisations.
3.       Owl Consultancy has been using Salesforce as a small business for 10 years. We’re certified and trusted, having implemented or customised Salesforce in small businesses, non-profit organisations and large global organisations.
4.       You won’t have to worry about servers, back-ups or disaster recovery. Salesforce includes regular, automatic software updates and feature additions in the cloud so you’ll never have to worry about keeping up with advances in technology.
5.       There are absolutely no hardware costs involved. Owl Consultancy’s pricing structure is keenly competitive with prices based on project length according to your needs. For all projects, an entitlement to use Owl's self-service support portal is included so you can ask quick questions at the click of your mouse.
6.       Your business will benefit from increased collaboration when you use Salesforce. Owl Consultancy can help you streamline file-sharing, use cloud-based workflow and communicate better – both internally and externally.
7.       With Salesforce, you can work from anywhere with an internet connection with whichever device you have at hand. Owl Consultants can work remotely or onsite or use a mix of both – whatever floats your boat.
8.       Security is updated regularly with Salesforce and, with your sensitive data in the cloud, you’ll never lose anything. At Owl Consultancy, we pride ourselves on discretion when it comes to accessing your data. We are experienced in migrating data from a range of sources including other CRM products, spreadsheets and SQL databases.
9.       Salesforce includes options to bolt-on a range of Apps from the dedicated AppExchange. Owl Consultancy can help you to decide which Apps your Salesforce instance might benefit from – whether they are for sales, HR, email marketing or finance. Certified Platform App builders, we can even build something just for your business.
10.   If you are a non-profit organisation, we can help you apply for donated (free) Salesforce licences from The Salesforce Foundation and Owl compliments this with deeply discounted  consultancy rates, so more of your hard earned donations can be ploughed into the valuable work you do. Salesforce can then help you enjoy a single, unified view of every interaction you have with clients, supporters, members, funders, volunteers and affiliates – that's not change for change's sake, that's change for better.

What is Salesforce?
This is the first question a lot of people ask when I tell them what I do for a living.
“So what do you do?”
“I’m a Salesforce Consultant.”
“What’s Salesforce?”
Now although I live in a Salesforce-infused world, I don’t assume that every Tom, Rick and Harriet should already know what this mighty CRM system is. Being a well-brought up techie, I explain, in a nut-shell:
“Salesforce is the world's leading cloud-based CRM.”
Before we can get onto more interesting topics such as whether I’d like a strawberry in my Prosecco, the next question is often quick to follow:
“Cloud-based - what’s that?”
I have my patter ready, and my eye on the strawberry:
“It’s when organisations run all their systems via the Internet instead of using software or servers.”
Now, at this point, the conversation can go one of two ways...
A: I get offered a strawberry in my drink
B: Further questions ensue because said Tom, Rick or Harriet (let’s go with Harriet for today) has been researching ways to make her business all singing and dancing and wishes, as Salesforce affords, to streamline her business, work smarter, log in from any Internet-enabled device in any location and maintain a 360 degree view of all her customers from one single record.
