Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.. People, society + the media gave him so many labels + judged him well ahead of his time before Allah, but as a boy, I simple knew him as Uncle Abu - the man who brought my cousins up to play with me on a Sunday ever so often.. Left them + my aunt with my grand parents all day.. + always returned for them just before dusk.. I didn't understand his place or position in our society as a boy, but looking back on that time, he appeared to have been well-mannered, well-respected + wealthy to some degree.. Then one time, Abu quite strangely brought my cousins up on a Friday instead of a Sunday.. + when dusk came, he did not return for them + we saw him on the TV instead.. The rest.. as they say.. is history, but has only been painted in a certain light + from a certain perspective.. I was inspired to + actually started writing my own unique account of this time many years ago.. but stopped after completing just 2 chapters.. Perhaps it is time now to start again. Blessings of love + light to your spirit Uncle Abu. May you soar through the cosmos + return to us at dusk. Condolences to my aunt + cousins, extended family + friends. We know not the day or the hour of our calling, so please let's all treasure our time + the energy shared by our loved ones while we can . . .
