cant stand it when ppl compare the book to the musical. THEY ARE 2 DIFFERENT MEDIAS!!!! tbh I see the characters being pretty different for the most part, too. it is a similar story but musical diverges sm from book it just isn't viable to compare them. don't say one is better than the other!!!! or that choices made in one are better than the other!!!!! (The musical is good, but I cannot stand the fandom they are insufferable. book fandom is alright ig my outsiders fixation is 6 feet under)

I believe that Ponyboy is goated and this fandom should stop being tweakers at times and all have a shit down and realize hey!! I don’t matter if I hate a ship! Or don’t like a character! You can not like something or like something a lot and still be fine with eachother! It’s fine to make jokes about hating a character, it’s jokes at the end of the day. And ships are just ships even if hey, there’s ships is absolutely cannot seem to grasp or like at all like Dar-bit, many people love but I’m not gonna tell someone to kill themselves over it obviously I’m not a crazy person! Idk, it's annoying to see people posting about how this fandom is SHIT and everyone in it should GO TO HELL because everything about it is TRULY TERRIBLE, especially when people say all that then compare it to another fandom (like i've seen posts almost exactly like that)

like there are icky people but this is tumblr, block them or scroll or something, it's just kinda gross

I think for the most part, this whole thing really nifty, I enjoy something I love so so much with people who love it as much as I do (something i've never found irl) and when I see people being shitty I block them or scroll past and continue having a good time with the fandom I choose to interact with

so ig tldr: If you find this fandom INSANELY toxic and makes you feel BAD, then it's probably what/who you're choosing to interact with rather than the fandom as a whole

i wasn’t even going to respond to this but no. no, absolutely not, we are NOT doing this. i will NOT tolerate any sort of negativity towards anyone in particular or any event in particular. this is not acceptable. it’s not that difficult to be kind and a lot of work was put into to that event by somebody who wanted to spread positivity and make an event where everyone in the fandom could work together and create stuff for each other.

this is disgustingly. if you can’t say this to me off anon then don’t say it at all. you probably don’t have the balls to say this to the op of that event either so why say it to another blog? this sort of behavior is not going to be tolerated on here. this is for outsiders content only, and opinions on the media, not anyone or anything within it. the event was lovely, and it gave the fandom a lot of nice content, and it was enjoyable for everybody who was in it as far as i can tell, aside from you. you could’ve kept this to yourself, if someone else made you feel this way them is sorry, but you did not have to share this with me or anyone else. your words can really affect someone else and my blog is not a place to air out your issues with something or someone. we’re not doing that here.

The la jolla version isn’t really that good imo. The dialogue is really clunky and something about the costume design lowkey pisses me off. I just don’t get the hype. All the changes they made during the broadway transfer improved the show so much.

i personally don't understand the whole "i love ace/chet/brill/bev" deal. like, do they even have lines?? are they even relevant to the story whatsoever?? aren't they just part of the ensemble?? i guess the same logic can be applied to evie and sylvia so my thoughts aren't perfect, but i just don't like the whole my favorite outsiders character is just a glorified ensemble member thing. but i haven't actually seen the musical, so maybe they do have lines/benefit the story but as far as im aware right now, they're not even true characters?

RE cherrycola: In the book Cherry says (abt Soda): "Your brother is one doll". Low key if people are going to ship parry off Paul punching Darry in the face and being friends pre-canon, I really don't have an issue with cherrycola. She thinks he's cute. He's a flirt. Whatever I'm not a huge fan either but I do think Cherry has a thing for trouble makers (IE "Cherry went for boys who were bound for trouble") and fandom is supposed to be fun. So like I think people can ship what they want. Yeah it's not entirely textual or anything but really neither is any outsiders ship. I don't really think it's like a deep mischaracterization of either of them, especially if their relationship is explored post canon! or as an AU! My soapobox. Not to get preachy but yk my perspective on cherrycola if literally anyone cares. Idk if this is a hot take probably not.
