She was going to make something for her? “Y-you’re too kind, Princess! You shouldn’t trouble yourself on my behalf! I can make you some if you’d like!” Lost and failed mission or not, she couldn’t begin to imagine the Princess of their clan being asked to make something for one of her guards. What would the clan even begin to think if they could see?! The disapproving look of her elders seared into her back and she did her best not to wince beneath it.

Yet…lemonade really did sound good after walking for all this time and what would the lemonade of the Ox King’s daughter taste like? Was there some special recipe? Temptation would win out over fear after a few minutes and she would mutter more softly, fiddling with one of her bangs. “If you really *want* to though I can’t very well stop you…a-and I’d like to catch up! Anything I can do to serve!” Even if service did include lemonade and getting to see her home.

“Ah, yer from the temple? I didn’t know y’all were still around. I’m sorry you came all this way here,” Chi-Chi bowed her head, sighing sadly. The great fire on Fire Mountain had taken more than just their castle and kingdom, it had separated their people from their King. She had assumed many would have moved on to different villages where it was safer, and some did move back once word of Fire Mountain’s flames were put out by the Turtle Hermit.

What would this woman, or the rest of the Ox Clan say when she’d hear she married a common martial artist? Or that her father had retired?

“I’m glad to hear the temple’s still around after all this time. But a lot has changed since the fire. I’m married now, to a wonderful husband an’ we have an adorable son. I ain’t plannin’ on startin’ a new kingdom. I’m perfectly happy bein’ a simple housewife to Son Goku.”

Sorry? What was there to be sorry about? If nothing else she had succeeded where the rest had failed! She had found their princess alive and well and soon they would...housewife? Married? Eyes wide she would stare at her for a moment, the realization that there would be no new kingdom or news to return sinking in slowly. Oh...oh no, she couldn’t go back and tell the clan elders that, they would have a fit! At the same time, her loyalty wasn’t as much to the elders as it was to her Princess and the King. Even if they had been separated, they were still the heads of the clan.

After a few minutes she would sigh, head dropping a little in defeat and concession. “I don’t think they would take that very well, your Grace, so...that’s why they aren’t going to know. That aside I couldn’t really tell them if I wanted to right now.” Now feeling even more incompetent at this she would confess softly, “I’ve um...I’ve been lost for a good year or two now. I don’t know how to get back.”

The princess was as gracious as ever and she would accept her wish, pushing herself up from the knee she’d taken. Still she would not meet the eyes of her princess as she shook her head. “E-everything is fine! It’s just...I have come on the behalf of my temple. They wish to know when you will return.” Which was true but not the whole of it. Given her people had been separated from the King and his daughter for so long after the great fire, there had been no telling if either of them were alive, let alone well. The mission, however, was not simply to *find* them either. Clearing her throat she would venture softly, “They wish to know where we can begin establishing our new kingdom, your grace. Is this where you wish to build your new castle?”

At the very sound of that voice the woman would start, eyes wide as she stared at a woman who could very well be related to her. Yet, at once she knew they shared no bloodline as the woman before her could be no other than royalty. As she realized that thought she would quickly kneel, bowing her head as her cheeks flushed in embarrassment at her boldness. “My Princess, i-it is an honor!” An honor and a relief, though her heart was beating so fiercely that she wasn’t sure she would ever be calm again.
