Grampians National Park Victoria
If you’re making you’re way along the Great Ocean Road, there is no excuse not to make a stop at The Grampians National Park. The Grampians in Victoria are a series of five spectacular sandstone cliff faces running north to south. Formed from earth movements lifting the impressive sandstone to create an amazing landscape of peaks and valleys. The area includes waterfalls to impressive panoramic…

Hahndorf, South Australia
Making my way along The Great Ocean Road, with a German friend I met up with in Adelaide, we had no excuse to make a stop at The Old Hanford Village. Hanford Village is a beautiful little place to visit as you make your way along The Great Ocean Road. Located about 40 minutes outside of Adelaide lies Australia’s oldest German Settlement, which shows it’s German flavour with a Main Street lined…

Vibrant Melbourne
Melbourne has to be one of the best cities in Australia that I have had the pleasure of visiting. A vibrant city life, botanical gardens, quirky eateries, lanes and ally ways filled with amazing artwork and the gateway to the great ocean road are just a few of the special things this city has to offer. It’s easy to take a step back and relax amongst the laid back hipster lifestyle in this city…

The Umpherston Sinkhole
As I traveled around Australia, I enjoyed visiting the many gardens in various towns and cities throughout the country. From the ones tucked away in small sleepy towns to large cities with the skyscrapers and tall buildings protruding above. But I have never seen anything like this! The Umpherston Sinkhole (or The Sunken Garden) has got to be one of the most impressive and peculiar gardens…

Lake Bumbunga, South Australia
I haven’t written any posts for a while so I’ll start to write about my trip down the Great Ocean Road in several blogs over the next few days. After traveling through the red centre I got a flight to Adelaide today meet up with a German guy I had met on Fraser Island. We arranged to get a camper van to travel down the great ocean road to Melbourne. We met up in Adelaide and discussed where we…

Uluru, Kings Canyon, Kata Tjuta. The Red Centre
Tumblr media
After stopping in Alice Springs I head to the Red Centre. Home to Uluru ( Ayers Rock) this was the one trip I wanted, and had to do whilst in Australia.Though it is summer in Australia, it was the dead season for visiting Uluru and the red centre due to not many people wanting to visit the area in the extreme heat conditions at this time of year reaching a whopping 42 degrees Celsius!! I booked a…

Two days in Alice Springs
Tumblr media
I arrived in to Alice Springs on route to a camping trip out to red centre. The temperature here is possibly the hottest I’ve ever experienced, measuring in at a high 42 degrees! There is a shuttle bus available at the airport which will take to the majority of hostels and hotels in town. On arrival in to the main town, again not reading or knowing anything about it, on the bus I started feel it…

48 hours on Magnetic Island
Tumblr media
I boarded the ferry to Magnetic Island without know what to expect. I promised myself to study a place a bit before exploring it but hey! Where’s the fun in that! Magnetic Island is named after its apparent magnetic affect on the ship’s compass of Captain Cook as he passed the island sailing his way up the Coast. The Island is only a short 12 kilometres from Townsville on the mainland.I chose the…

Townsville Queensland
Before catching the ferry to Magnetic island I stopped in Townsville for the night. I try not to read up too much about a place before I visit, as I kind of like the surprise of what awaits me when I arrive. Townsville is a city in Queensland nestled between cairns and the Whitsundays. Upon arriving I noticed it was a city of reasonable size, but the streets were completely dead! Empty! It seemed…

Sailing The Whitsunday Islands
After stopping in Agnes Waters for New Year’s Eve I headed To Airlie Beach. I’d pretty much followed a massive storm up the coast so hadn’t pre arranged anything at Airlie Beach apart from a room for a couple nights. The following morning the weather had cleared quite dramatically, and the beautiful blazing sun was back. I took a walk to a tour agent and managed to book myself on a one night two…

Fraser Island Trip
Tumblr media
After being stuck over Christmas in the most out the way and empty hostel in Hervey Bay, It was finally time to start my tour of Fraser Island. Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world stretching out 75 miles in length and 15 miles in width. It’s base of volcanic rock that’s been building up the sand for over 750,000 years. I booked a 2 night 3 day camping tour driving 4×4’s to get…

Hervey Bay The Gateway To Fraser Island
Tumblr media
I arrived in Hervey Bay, the Gateway to Fraser Island, after getting sick in Brisbane. Needing my own room for a few days to recover I booked in to a hostel ( which I’ll leave nameless ) with the only private room left at the time due to Christmas quickly approaching. I had to unfortunately cancel my original tour to Fraser, and not being able to rebook till the 28th I was stuck in this hostel…

Brisbane City
After a three hour greyhound trip from Byron Bay I reach Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland. After a very hot and sweaty walk I make it to my Hostel. The temperatures seem to be getting higher the further north I get! I got up early to explore the city, without knowing much about it I headed straight in to the centre where I instantly realised it wasn’t for me…. Brisbane is a business…
