The Rising Sun - An ACOTAR Fangame - WIP 1/?

Hey y’all. So, the ACOMAF dating game is still in the works, but needs some retconning post the release of ACOWAR so it’s going to take some rewriting. And to be honest, I’ve written a lot of porn and romance lately, so I wanted to try my hand at coding something a little more plotty. 

So, welcome to another WIP of mine: The Rising Sun.

The Rising Sun is going to be a Choice Your Own Adventure style text game set in the ACOTAR Universe, where you play as a human slave in the Day Court as Prythian reaches the cusp of the human uprising and rebellion. 

You choose who you are, what your strengths are, how and if you shall resist your High Fae masters, and who you shall befriend, seduce, and betray. Each choice affects your talents, your character’s psyche, and how the rebellion sees you. HOWEVER, unlike most CYOA games, there will be no ‘bad’ endings. Why? Because those fuckers stress me out. If anything, the most distressing part if the opening scene. The rest will be up to you to shape and guide towards your ideal future.  

It shall have a fuck ton of story for the history of the Day Court, for Helion (who shall be both an enemy and a romance option), and for the humans in general. 

It shall be GRAPHIC as a warning. It will also have some dark themes, though they will not be the focus of the game. Themes of rape, assault, and violence are contained within, but are not graphic as I want this to be fun rather than upsetting. The NSFW parts shall come in when you get your sexy on with your loved one(s). 

Currently, there is only one scene available to play through, but I thought I’d link it so you can test it out and see if it interests you. From here on out, things are going to get a LOT bigger - I shall post updates as I go.

ACOWAR CONFESSION #4

The last acowar confession from me, for now that is. REMEMBER, MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD! A gift. All of it. The book just ended like that. I think the book (ACOTAR, ACOMAF, ACOWAR), that talks about Feyre and Rhysand should end like that...BUT another part of me could not except it. After how Rhys died and came back from the death, I felt that it was so unreal that I need another book talking about them to make sure that I was not dreaming. That Rhys live. I've known a lot of fictional characters, but I don't know anyone that can put such a big impact on me as much ad Feysand does. They had become someone too important in my life that it's hard to leave it just like that.

ACOWAR CONFESSION #3

Sorry the third one took so long guys! For those of you who had not seen the first and second one, please do and know that this contains MAJOR SPOILERS! Suriel's death was another blow to me after Rhys' ofc. How can I not? From the second time Suri was captures by Feyre, I had known that Suri had a soft spot for Feyre. And the third time, gods I know now, that it was a dreamer. I think its death hit me harder than it should be. I actually cried so badly that during the night I sleep after reading this book, I still cried.

ACOWAR CONFESSION #2

Yep, another one, like I said, it will be more than one confession. MAJOR SPOILERS ALERT! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!! I REPEAT, MAJOR SPOILERS!!!! MAJOR SPOILERS! The moment Rhys died, I cries, almost screamed in rage. The only thing saving me from doing so was because it was passed midnight and my parents were both sleeping. When he died, I think my heart was as silent, and as hollow as Feyre after Under the Mountain. If he really did die, I think what Feyre felt after that will be what I also feel for the rest of my life. I may be able to live with it, but I know for sure that some part inside me will be an empty shell. When that chapter came, my cries and how I hold my scream of rage might be funny but that was what I truly felt.

ACOWAR CONFESSION #1

Before I proceed let me say that this confession will be more that one and that it contains MAJOR ACOWAR SPOILER (ofc), so read at your own risk. I've waited a long time to post this so read with calm minds people. I want to say that I'm actually okay with Tamlin now. I really can see that he really did love Feyre. It made me wonder if beneath those rage he threw to borg Feyre and Rhysand (at the High Lords meeting) was loneliness. He was lonely, because the human girl that had loved him dearly, that had accepted him, ended up with another person and he—Tamlin—saw the love shininh brighter than anything he had ever seen in both of their eyes. That he felt betrayed and sad, perhaps a little broken. That he hoped those emotions Feyre gave Rhys, those love shimmering brighter and brighter than when Feyre was with him, was actually directed to him instead. It was not only about accepting that Feyre no longer love him, but also accepting what he is and what he had done. And how both of their relationship no longer work out. The fact that he told Feyre to be happy, in exchange for saving Rhys, told me that he had come in terms with everything. Everything, not only Feyre's love to Rhys, and Rhys' for her. Which means that he started to accept, and had started letting Feyre go. And I don't have any reason to hate Tamlin, I just feel so proud of him. And that's a prove that Tamlin cam be a better person, and I hope he will also be happy in the future. Just like what Feyre said.

Just made two aesthetics, Aelin Ashryver Galanthynius from Throne of Glass Series was done yesterday, and Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows Duology was done just now! This is the first time I made aesthetics, and it's pretty difficult, more difficult than I ever thought. But it turns out better than I expected!

Boy do I have a lot to say about this cover. And what Sarah said about it.

It’s a scene from A Court of Wings and Ruin. 

But look at the backdrop, Feyre is definitely in the Spring Court. Yet her hand is engulfed in flames. No darkness, no hint of the Night Court. Flames are the Autumn Court. Flames are Lucien and Elain. What is little Lucien up to?

And look at our badass of a High Lady with her hand engulfed in flame, even as she is trapped in the Spring Court. (Not to mention she’s wearing a tiara, bless her.)

But also, look at the flowers. One is definitely wisteria, and I believe the other is ranunculus. But idrc about the ranunculus right now, because wisteria has so many meanings. 

Now, I may be overthinking things a bit, but look at all of that. 

There are some things we definitely want (victory over hardship, releasing burdens, good luck, etc.); some things we already have (serious devotion, longevity, honor, etc.), and there are some things that have been motifs and themes throughout the series so far (duality of love, creative expansion, releasing hardships, etc.).

Sarah never does anything for no reason, so what on earth do these flowers mean. 

- Is the duality of love Tamlin’s poisoned love vs Rhys’ love, or is it more familial love and the duality of Feyre’s love for her sisters and the inner circle vs Rhys. 

- A spring birth, does that contribute to the theories of Tamlin knocking up Ianthe? 

- Victory over hardship? Is that Feyre’s victories in the Spring Court and role as a spy?

- honestly, I could analyze most of these (in further detail too) but I’ll spare everyone.

If anyone knows something about the maybe-ranunculus or the flower they actually are, please chip in. (I’m also probably definitely overthinking all of this.)

But in the mean time, I’m going to keep staring at this scene and trying to piece it together, because what is it and what’s happening to our badass darling Feyre.
