REVIEW: Fortnite (PS4)

Hello World =)
Fortnite is a Battle Royal style game created by Epic Games’ which means a whole bunch of players are put in a large area and that area gets smaller to guide people closer to each other. You have to be the last alive in order to win, which means you have to find weapons and be able to kill others in order to be that last person or squad standing. When Fortnite was first released the game got a little backlash on pretty much copying the idea of another popular Battle Royal game ‘PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ or ‘PUBG’. The one big difference I noticed was Fortnite’s battle royal mode is completely free to play and PUBG was not. The art style in Fortnite is a lot more friendlier as well, more of a cartoon rather than realistic graphics. One last massive difference in Fortnite is that you have the ability to build walls, floors, ramps and ceilings. This gives you the chance to build bases to aid you in battle which is a whole new dynamic to battle royal type gaming and is a load of fun once you’ve got the hang of building fast.
Fortnite developers do a great job in patching certain things quickly, bringing out new skins and cosmetic upgrades so you can look fresh as fuck compared to other people in the game. They have also brought out a ‘Battle pass’ which gives players the chance to grind out the different cosmetic goodies rather than just straight up paying for them. You pay a one off $15.00 to get the pass and you end up unlocking around 15-20 cosmetic upgrades for your character which means you’re saving a load of money and it gives you an incentive to carry on playing because you wanna unlock all the goodies before the season is up.
The game has not been around for that long and they have already announced the arrival of new areas on the map and a new look to the game entirely. This keeps the game exciting for me personally, in the time I have been playing they’ve brought out 5 or 6 new weapons you can use in game and the best part is everyone can get these new guns, you don’t have to pay any in-game transactions to be able to get them. This keeps the game fair and I am all for that!
I’ve logged about 50 hours on solo mode and around 24 hours on squad mode. You need to pick up the building aspect of the game quickly otherwise you’re gonna get out played by others who have already mastered it. If you prefer being a sneaky player theres plenty of ways you can sneak around the map and not get caught so depending on your game style Fortnite is pretty versatile.
If you are looking for a great online battle royal game, or even just a shooting game then Fortnite would probably be a good choice. The fact that its free is a pretty big magnet for all us minimum wage/ part-time workers. You can play solo or party up with the boys/girls and help each other out to eventually be the last squad standing pulling off epic dance moves to rub the victory in other players faces. With the frequent updates I don’t see myself getting bored any time soon.
I’ll give this game a solid 7/10.

ASAP ROCKY X UNDER ARMOUR??

I want to start writing more, and since it’s fragile Sunday I wanted to post up a second blog. This one took me by surprise, and I don’t know how to truely feel about it haha.
Asap Rocky, that pretty mother fucker has just signed a deal with Under Armour brand and he is to head the lifestyle category. According to Sneaker News, Under Armour has been struggling to meet sales expectations as their numbers start to dip. Signing a huge name like Rocky is definitely going to boost numbers providing Rocky comes up with some dope as clothing, which I’m sure he will.
It’s nothing new that clothing brands collab with well known celebrities to bring out something new which is mutually beneficial for both parties. Now we know Under Armour hasn’t been doing so well and so that is the reason they wanted to sign Rocky, but what benefits rocky other than a nice looking cheque?
Everyone knows that Rocky is already an established fashion icon and trend setter within popular culture. He wears everything from street brands all the way up to brands like Gucci, Fendi and Balenciaga. Why would he want to sign with a well known sports clothing and footwear brand and create shit for their life style section.
This deal is no doubt interesting to many to see what both creative groups come up with and how Rocky might be able to grab a wider consumer group from just having his name on the brand and the quality of the products he will be putting out. I also wanna know what sort of $$ we talking to get someone like Rocky to sign with the brand, cause it must be big money in order to make him think about doing it.
Be on the look out in the future for the pieces they drop.
Peace

Aaaahhhhh yayuuuur,
What is good my non existent readers :) I hope your day has been well, and you’re ready to be intrigued by my review on the latest instalment of the Marvel Universe. One of my favourite super heroes of all time, they’ve made a handful of movies already about him, and when I first watched them I was entertained, yet after I watched this latest reboot... the old ones do not even come close.
Now just to be clear I’m no Marvel expert I don’t know every super hero and their role in the universe. However I do reckon I know quite a bit about the more well known characters and story lines because I went back read some comics after being introduced to them in the cinematic universe.
Just so you know Spider Man in movies was owned by Sony and so that is why we never saw him within the Marvel universe like we did with the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy and all those characters, even though Spider Man was a vital character in the original comics. But because of legal issues they Marvel studios were not allowed to use him within their universe which sucked. However Marvel and Sony worked out a deal which I’m guessing allowed both studios to profit off the character, and if it meant he could finally join the others in the cinematic universe... then why the hell not!
Just like that we were introduced to Spider Man in Captain America: Civil War which was cool, he only played a solid part once the last battle went down so even though we knew he was now in the Universe, us the fans wanted more and Marvel obviously put out the trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming!
Now even the bloody title of this film is smart and witty. Homecoming! cause he’s finally come back home to the universe he belongs in! Once I saw the title and the trailer I knew we were in store for another great film, and so the wait started until it finally came out a year later. You know I was up in that shit day of release and boy oh boy, do I have some praises to give.
First of all Tom Holland who plays Peter Parker a.k.a the neighbour hood spider man is probably 100x better than the other two who played him before. The reason I say this is because this dude actually looks like a high school 15 year old kid. His voice is in between puberty so it’s like starting to get lower but still a lot screechier than the last two dudes which is what Spidey should sound like in my opinion. The innocence and awkwardness of the kid makes it so entertaining to watch, it builds a perfect amount of humour but always keeps him relatable because at the end of the day he’s a kid, and kids do dumb shit.
I also want to rave about the cast diversity in this reboot! Marvel really did a number on me, especially if MJ really is Zendaya, she’s a beautiful woman and I’m not to sure if the directors were just trolling us, but I seriously hope not cause Zendaya could deffs be a captivating MJ within the universe and I’m totally here for it if they choose to take that route.
I have seen some backlash on Zendaya’s character, talking about how there is no progression with her character and she is merely a smart ass girl who pops up for comedic relief. I reckon it’s to early to be saying shit like that, people need to remember that this is the FIRST movie of a rebooted character, done by a new production company. I truely believe the directors aimed to tie Spidey in to the cinematic universe as much as they could before actually exploring his actual origin story. This is why throughout the whole movie Spidey is just trying to earn the respect of Tony Stark (Iron Man) and right at the end switches up and decided he just wants to be ‘the neighbour hood Spider-Man” for now. This part of the movie then shows us that in the following Spider-Man titles we are going to go back to his origin story and in more detail and that is probably when MJ’s character will become a vital character within the story line. People complaining about the character just need to take a step back and a breather.
I liked also how Tony Stark becomes a father figure for Peter Parker, shwoing him the ropes of being a big time super hero.
Now the villain played by Michael Keaton is also probably one of my favourite spidey villains to date. Vulture is basically just a normal human guy who has been done wrong by Stark and decided to use alien technology salvaged from Avengers 1 and makes a cool as flying suite and other advanced type weaponry. I don’t wanna give to much away with him though, you will need to check it out.
I’m a marvel stan and so of course this movie did it for me. However I think this movie would also do it for a lot of you out there as well, even if you’re not fully in to the whole Marvel cinematic universe. The movies is full of humour, action and trials with a massive twist I didn’t even see coming ahaha. I would highly recommend you go watch this film at your local cinemas. If you’ve already seen it like me, what’s your thoughts on it?
Peace

4:44

Well well well, what do we have here?
Another artist that may only be significant to you depending on how much you know about him and his reign in Hip Hop. Most people know he’s been in the game for a long time, shit even before I was born but most people know him as Bey’s husband.. and to be completely honest.. that ain’t a bad thing.
Yes I am talking about the rockafella mogul, Jay Z. Now Jay Z is quite a weird artist when you talk about popularity within my age group or younger. His peak as an artists was probably around the late 90s early 2000s, so therefore many younger dudes and dudettes may not be that familiar with him just because he’s now kind of became more of a business man rather than one of the hottest rappers in the game right now. If you are a heavy hip hop head than of course you know who he is and what he has done for the culture. If you don’t know then you should read up about it because he is seriously one of the GOATS.
Now this new album he dropped was kind of following in his wifes footsteps in regards to no obvious promotion about the album. He wasn’t on tv or radio or the internet, telling people its coming on this such and such date. Instead he had billboards and underground trains and websites with the simplest sign of 4:44. Now hardcore fans had already caught on to what the advertisements were, some theories were crazy as fuck but most of them were accurate which buzzed me out. Personally I had no idea only because I don’t keep up with Jay like most hip hop heads do, mainly because I didn’t find him anywhere near my top 3 rappers. Now when I read it had dropped it took me a couple of days to go buy it mainly because I just kept forgetting to, but don’t worry twitter let me know all the fire as bars he had cause nearly everyone was quoting him.
I finally got to sit down with the album and listen through a couple of times. Again I don’t consider Jay as one of my fave rappers but boy did he come hard on this album. For me personally I think I missed that era where Jay ran supreme for a bit and so I never really connected with his music, I always knew he had lyrics and some of his songs I would bump heavy but I would never rave about the man. 4:44 is a different story, this man literally gets on his boss man shit and speaks on so much shit that happens within society and more importantly what’s been going on recently within our own sub cultural group which is Hip Hop. He literally drops knowledge on how he became successful and rich. He talks about inequality within society and how the Black Man still has a negative stigma even though many are elite members of society. He talks about his infidelity which leaves him pretty vulnerable however he still speaks on so much other shit and the way he announces it.... he just does it so perfectly. He has a well rounded balance of knowing how to be a street dude and a professional business man.
His lyrics aren’t the savviest, but everything he spits is real and some of the knowledge he drops needs to be said straight up so theres no miscommunication on the dimes he’s giving away for free.
I think if you consider yourself a hip hop junkie, or if you just wanna see Jay’s side of the cheating after hearing Beyonce’s then you need to listen to this album. This album is strictly for the progression of our subcultural group which is hip hop, none of this turn up for the weekend type shit. It’s the set you up for life type shit. There’s a point in time where you just have to stop living for the turn up and try be a productive member of something.
Go cop it on Tidal, not to sure if you can get anywhere else at the moment. But use your free trial for this album people trust me!
Much love and praise to the most high,
Peace
