Each weekend morning cyclists from all over the New York area get up at un fathomable hours and ride to the park, often in the dark. The city appears pretty surreal at this time in the AM like a completely different place inhabited by different creatures . So Trying to get to sleep with this thought in the back of your mind can make for some strange dreams. This is an attempt to illustrate one such dream.

Imagine this: everything goes exactly as planned. You have spent countless hours dialing in the equipment and training for this stage. Now it's here, and you’re putting out the most watts you’ve ever seen, like you’re about to launch yourself into space. And then—bam— you overtake Remco, the World Time Trial Champion at the line, like a cherry on top of it all. There’s no doubt in your mind that this is the fastest anyone’s ever climbed this mountain. For a brief moment, you’re the king of the world. And then, like some cosmic joke, Pogacar floats across the line, no aero stuff, just that half cocked smile- another day at the office. It’s like the universe is laughing at Vingo’s expense. #tdf2025

Cycling books generally come in three distinct categories. First, there are the training manuals, which assume that if you don’t suffer, you must be riding a beach cruiser and stopping for ice cream. Then, there are the biographies of professional cyclists, all of whom, against all odds, have somehow endured more suffering than even the training manuals recommend. And finally, there are coffee table books, featuring breathtaking photos of those aforementioned pros —books that exist to remind you that, no matter how much you train, you will never look that good in Lycra.
Clearly, what was missing was a set of books that address the real issues in cycling. Like, how do you draft off a stranger without creeping them out? And is there any way to look good while carrying an overstuffed saddle bag, or is that just the cycling equivalent of wearing socks with sandals?
We saw this hole in the market, and filled it the only way we knew how —by drawing these fake books.

There are two kinds of people in this world: those who think their personality is defined by their values and experiences, and those who understand that, fundamentally, they are their bike.
We tell ourselves we choose our bikes based on performance, comfort, or some ineffable ride quality. But deep down, we all just want a machine that subtly tells the world: I am better than you.
So, in the name of both science and ridicule, let’s examine six iconic bikes and the unsettling truths they expose about their owners.

When @JenniCycle leads a ride it often resembles a rolling cycling fashion show. But then January hit, and the collective thought was, What if we… didn’t bike? Walking seemed novel. Plus, walking meant we could drink wine and eat pizza. We invited others to watch us walk—because why wouldn’t they?—only to discover this whole concept had already been claimed by fashion designers. Turns out, we weren’t revolutionaries. Just pedestrians with snacks. Next stop: Milan, probably.
