Speaking of complicators: hybrids. This is a plant I bought off eBay from a nursery that so far has been reliable at IDs. This was sold as an open-pollinated Huernia zebrina hybrid. It’s not clear from that if the seed parent is H. zebrina or a hybrid itself, but this plant finally flowered today, and I am going to guess it has some H. thuretti var. primulina in it. Not only does that nursery sell it, but the flower’s very similar, minus the striped throat. Ngl, I was hoping for something flashier, but it’s got its own subdued charm.
