It wasn’t all too shocking to hear that Ororo wasn’t the same girl he had once met. He wasn’t the same young prince she had met either. A lot had happened since they had last seen each other, a lifetime feeling as if it separated their youth from now. “No one can stay the same.” T’Challa hadn’t put any time restraints on his trip to Gotham, unsure of what the situation would be like when he arrived. It wasn’t as if he had a country to go back to anymore. The thought saddened him. A country and culture destroyed along with their world. They were refugees in a new world and the king was still growing used to it, finding himself thinking he could go home every now and then. The thoughts were filled with empty hope. This place was home now but there was more than Gotham and he planned to explore when his time was done here. “I don’t know.” He wasn’t going to leave Shuri behind, not when all they had was each other. “As long as Shuri wants to stay.” Feeling her fingers grab his, he looked at their connected hands, moving to get a better grip.
“This is true. Though I would think people shouldn’t become wise at such a young age as ours.” Ororo sighed next to him. They’d both lost everything. And while her found family in the X-men had too, it felt different. She felt like T’Challa could understand a little better, the idea of losing not one but two homes. “Well then I should give her reasons to stay then shouldn’t I?” she said with a soft smile, blushing when she felt him take her hand completely. “Our situation is far from perfect but, It’s nice to have you in my life again. You know, all my friends think this is a date..” she mentioned testing the waters. She wasn’t sure if this was one or not.

Jean frowned, lacing her fingers together as Storm spoke, her eyebrows drawn together with concern. “Are you sure?” she said, her heart still hammering a little. She had been projecting into Storm’s mind and had accidentally gone too hard, although she had done it before. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, sighing softly. “I know,” she murmured. “I just don’t want to hurt anyone.”
“I’m sure Jean. Nothing a little ibuprofen can’t fix.” She reassured her friend. She gave a soft smile and patted her back. “Come one. Let’s go do something fun.” She offered out. “I found this new coffee place while I was out with T’Challa. They have like 100 different types of bean or something. Want to go?”

“ i thought you were gone. for good. ” - @sonofkingtchaka
“In a way, I am. I’m not the same girl I was in the village. I’ve learned things about myself. Experienced more of the world. Grown... But fate has a funny was of bringing perople ” Ororo smiled, looking down as they walked down the path in the park. The two of them had been exploring the more...enjoyable parts of the city. They walked side by side, their fingers just grazing each other now and then. Her heart skipped each time. “Do you know how long you’ll be staying in the city?” she asked him, testing the waters and lightly grabbing his fingers when they grazed again.

“There’s a difference between not being able to save everyone and not being able to save anyone.” Even one life would be enough, Scott thought, as long as he could make a difference it would be enough. Being useless, he couldn’t do it, he wouldn’t allow it. He grimaced, wishing he could have the positivity Ororo did. He quirk a brow of confusion. “Come where?”
“You have saved plenty. Now enough of this. We have too many telepaths for you to be fuzzing up the air ways with your moping.” Ororo shook her head. She waited in the door way, not turning to look at him as she placed her jacket on. “I’m sorry that was an order. Not a suggestion. Come come.” She called over her shoulder.

Emma scoffed. “Yes but I can also see that you think my fashion sense is flawless.” Emma grinned once the door was open. She let herself in walking past Ororo. “A meeting or a date?” she countered eyebrows raised.
Ororo rolled her eyes, but beggars couldn’t be choosers. “Why does everyone keep saying that? Can’t a girl meet with someone without it being assumed to be a date? People can be friends after all” she spoke defensively. “It’s a friendly tour of the city. A walk. Maybe some food involvement. That’s all.”

Heartbreak ─ about two billion songs written about it from where Charles was sitting right now, he was believing this might be the path Ororo was traveling down and she was old enough to handle it but it wouldn’t be Charles if it didn’t bring his heckles on the back of his neck to stand on their own. Tension in his shoulder where her hand rested, deep breath out from him. “Just a friend? Then why haven’t you brought him around yet, hmm?” He asked, masking out his distress towards the situation. Soft hum from the back of his throat in disbelief, melting away from the lips against his forehead, his catastrophically sweet Storm. The bending of his elbow to bring his hand to rest on the top of her own, thumb caressing over the side of the length of her palm and bit up her pinky, before repeating the action as if to calm himself down. “Your fooling this old man here into believing that it is a date. I don’t see you beam like this for Scott or Warren.” He pointed out to her, bring her hand from his shoulder to be in front of him, gesturing for her to follow if she pleases and bringing a kiss to her knuckles and then planting a firmer kiss on the back of her hand. “I don’t care if he’s the king of Wakanda, if he dares to make a move on you without your consent or dares to drop your heart…” His bright blue irises, slightly went dark. “I will make his existence hell on earth, ensure you warn him.”
“Because I wasn’t aware he was even in the city until recently. We happened to bump into each other. I know him from the motherland. Check my memory if you don’t believe me. ” she shrugged. though she had to admit, her heart did race a bit at the chance to see T’challa again. “ That’s because if scott was a spice he’d be flour. And warren is an over grown bird who gets distracted by his own reflection. Neither of them are interesting company. ” Ororo smirked. She pulled her hand back with a smile. “I’m just excited to see someone who sees this land as I do. It will be fine.” she rolled her eyes at his threat. “I don’t need anyone fighting for my honor Charles.”

“ i can’t even take the very thought of you getting hurt. ” - @redphoenixjean
“oh, come now. Don’t be so dramatic. It’s just a little head ache. You did great Jean.” Ororo tried to encourage the girl. She didn’t mean to hurt her, and she knew that. “This is what the training is for. To help you control and harness your power within. You must love and nurture it, even when it gets out of control. Don’t fear it, discipline it. There is no manual on being a mutant.”

i feel perfectly fine - @ororomunrce
“Oh you do? My mistake, i’m only a telepath who can hear the thoughts you project.” Emma rolled her eyes her lips pursed.
If i think of a middle finger, will you see that?” Ororo answered Emma. With a sigh she went and opened up the door to let Emma in. Her apartment was a mess, which was already a sign of stress seeing that Ororo was a very neat person. “fine…i need your help. I have a meeting with an old friend and I have no idea what to wear.” She gave in. Even with as cold(haha) as she was, Emma’s fashion sense was flawless.

♦ - for a platonic kiss (on the head or something) - @mindsovermetal
Ororo smiled patting the man on the shoulder and placing her lips on the top of his head. “It’s going to be fine Charles. It’s not as if I’m going out with a stranger. T’challa is a friend.” She laughed at the man’s concern. “And it’s not a date. We’re just going to catch up is all. Don’t worry so much.”

T’Challa listened with careful ears, making note of important details as the woman before him spoke. “So then you have recently moved to Gotham?” He asked, making the assumption based off of her wording. If the school was new than their residence must have been as well. “No,” he shook his head. “I meant what are you studying?” Curiosity got the better of him as he asked the intrusive question. He would do almost anything to keep the conversation going, to stay in her presence just a little longer. “Thank you.” His voice saddened, features dropping as his eyes met the ground.
“A few weeks in but still new enough I suppose. And you?” she asked him. As expected T’challa didnt miss a beat. She smiled. “It’s complicated. Let’s just say I’m undecided for the time being.” Ororo reached out and touched his arm lightly. She didn’t want to overstep, after all he was the king now. “If you ever want to talk, I’ll be around.” She offered out. “Do you want to exchange contact information? Perhaps we could explore the city a bit together?”

“If it makes any difference I’m internally 30.” Scott quipped. It certainly felt as if he was, and he’d been told enough times that he acted like an ‘old man’. Plus he looked after enough kids to feel something like a parent. “Now you sound like an Oracle.” He joked. There were times when Scott envied Ororo’s wisdom, if only he could be as good of a mentor as she was. His gaze softened from her words, not that you would be able to see from his eyes. “I…” He didn’t know where to begin, frankly. “When Halloween happened I was so useless to help Jean, to help anyone. I hated that so much. I don’t like being helpless when people I love are hurting.”
Ororo’s smile fell some. She felt for her friend. She knew what it was like to feel useless. “You cannot save everyone Scott. The best you can do is learn and prepare for next time. Do not obsess over your failures. What’s done is done. Learn to make them into victories.” She offered out. She gave him a what she hoped was comforting pat on the shoulder. “Come.” She said standing back up.

T’Challa took a step towards the woman, disbelief written on his features. His heart skipped in his chest but regardless he tried to keep his composure, ignoring the way he felt upon seeing her again. “You live here? In Gotham?” He asked, trying to clarify. It felt like a sign but Shuri would just tell him he was overthinking, being a hopeless romantic. “What kind of schooling?” He asked her curiously. The Xavier Institute was not something he had heard of before. Making a mental note to look it up later, he pushed it to the back of his mind just happy that she was here whatever the reason. “I’m here for the Wakandan outreach program.”
“For the time. The professor is here and therefore so are we. I believe he is thinking of opening another school here. It’s all very new.” She explained. She wasn’t sure what the entire plan was yet. She’d barely been here a few weeks herself. “The kind where you learn things. Have you forgotten how to think now that you’re king?” she teased him, while deflecting the question. “Of course, I’ve heard of it. And I heard about your father I am…so sorry. I would have reached out but, I wasn’t sure if you would even remember who I was.”

A tired amusement befell his expression from Ororo’s words. “Ah it’s never too early for frown lines.” Scott joked, trying to pass off his frown and worries rather then talking about them. Her question made him lightly sigh. “Just the usual I guess,” He admitted. Everyone. He couldn’t help but feel responsible for all the X-Men, probably to an unhealthy degree (he’d stop if he knew how but alas).
“Well then yours are going to be set by the time you’re thirty.” She said taking a seat next to him. “A clouded mind can not be expected to make clear decisions.” She said to him with a small smile. Ororo was wiser than most women her age. She’d been through things most people couldn’t even imagine. Sometimes it was hard for her to remember that didn’t mean other people didn’t have their troubles as well. “Speak to me. We are teammates, yes? Your problems are mine as well.”

@ororomunrce: “Nonsense, __Name__. We both know you don’t make mistakes.”
Shuri flashed the other woman a grin, shrugging her shoulder. “Well, everybody makes mistakes,” she said, her grin widening. “But I do make them less than most people, that is true.” She shrugged, glancing at the Black Panther habit she had on the table in front of her. “It just needs a few more tweaks to be perfect. I cannot send my brother out into this city without being sure that his suit is the best it can possibly be.”
It had been years since Ororo had seen Shuri. She was just a child, though still brighter than any other mind ororo had come across. She was glad the girl’s spark had be sculpted and sharpened rather than dulled like so many children in this country. Then again, Wakanda was not the United States. “I feel like it’s been so long. You’re brighter than I could have possibly imagined. You make all of T’Challa’s suits?” she asked curiously.

“It’s not my fault!” Tommy blinked, holding his hands up in surrender as he took in the look on her face. She meant every word and as much as Tommy hated cleaning, he also didn’t fancy finding out what it felt like to be an icicle. “Alright, alright. I’ll clear it up, okay? Chill” he shook his head. “I got it covered, don’t even worry about it”
“Oh? So then you had someone else in my apartment without consulting me and that’s why you should be in trouble?” she asked him, raising an eyebrow. “thank you.” She said sternly. She understood why Wanda wanted to give him a babysitter even if she was only a few years older than him. In this universe anyway. “You better. Do i even have any groceries left?”
