As someone who grew up in the early 2000s I never even blinked twice. Yeah a lower income girlie who thrifts would obviously wear weird outfits because that was the vibe
I used to think Blue Sargent’s outfits were insane when I first read trc but then I went to art school and honestly everyone just dresses like that daily tbh

Today was a bad mental health day. Here’s what made it better:
Cuddling my puppy
Hugs from my husband
Chamomile tea
Hot chocolate
Crying
Sitting with the windows open
Prayer
I spend a lot of time being upset with myself for the things I cannot do when I have a bad day, but right now I’m choosing to focus on the moments that help me through.
Here is my puppy cuddling with her new stuffed animal. She is adorable. One of life’s many joys.

Normally, I struggle with seasonal depression, but this year fall is:
Snuggles with the puppy
Writing
Playing video games and not feeling guilty about it
Appreciating the darkness even when it comes early
Warm drinks
Sweatshirts
Thinking about warmth under an electric blanket
Fall garlands along the mantle

Personally my favorite part is the mistranslations of Latin. I took Latin for 10 years, which has come most in handy by allowing me to understand a few Pratchett jokes.
There will never be a book series quite like Discworld. One second you’re reading the silliest pun you’ve ever seen, the next second you’re either reading about how social and economic inequality leads to flaws the justice system or about how realizing our mortality can make us celebrate life more, and then several months later you finally learn about a niche historical event that Terry Pratchett used for a joke.

For me it was Guards! Guards! not being available so I picked up Small Gods instead. Which I LOVED!!
Now I’m halfway through Guards! Guards! and I’m excited to see which Discworld book find its way into my life next.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, you do not decide which discworld book you're going to read first, the universe does. It's whichever one accidentally makes its way into your immediate vicinity, whichever one is the only one on the shelf at the library when you were actually looking for something else. It will find you when it's Time, it has something to do with wossname... quantum

Okay are any other Zelda fans frustrated by the fact that we finally get to play as Princess Zelda and the game is…. Childish, simplistic, easy???
I was expecting warrior princess, the girl who dressed up as a sheik and led Link to victory. After two very realistic games with expansive worlds and challenging quests, what we end up with is this Little Tikes Little People version of Zelda with a magic wand who does not even have her own weapons and game that plays like it’s for 8 year olds. I don’t dislike the game, just disappointed that we didn’t actually get the female heroine character we deserved.
Compare those to this….

You HAVE to read the Dreamer Trilogy. I literally read most of it on my honeymoon because I was having such bad night terrors (unrelated to being on my honeymoon, just an issue for me) and awake at all hours of the night, so these books kept me from losing my mind.
The last book fell a bit flat for me but I will still recommend this whole series because it was just that good!
I finished trc!! I really loved it, but now im wondering if i should read the dreamer trilogy. I'm leaning towards reading it because i really liked these characters and Maggie's writing, but I've read some mixed reviews that made me wonder if it's really worth it. So.
#trc#the dream thieves#the dreamer trilogy#ronan lynch#imo the trcverse experience just isnt complete without loml hennessy#so i think its worth it to read the trilogy even though greywaren isnt exactly what i was hoping it would be#the raven boys

Women, they have minds, and they have souls, as well as just hearts. And they've got ambition, and they've got talent, as well as just beauty. I'm so sick of people saying that love is just all a woman is fit for. I'm so sick of it.
[Almost crying]
But I'm so lonely...
