@wolfstarmicrofic July 23 - prompt 23: Sister [word count 711]
Remus had been tracing patterns on Sirius's throat with his tongue when the other boy tapped him on the shoulder. He moved back slightly, smirking at the blown-out pupils of his boyfriend and his lips already redder.
"The alcove behind the tapestry with the naked dancing wizards?" he asked.
"Fitting," Sirius answered.
But once they crossed the empty corridor and drew back the tapestry everything they had planned vanished at the sight of a sobbing Lily, hugging her knees while sitting in the darkest corner of the small alcove.
"Lily, what happened?" Remus exclaimed, immediately kneeling by her side while Sirius drew the tapestry close behind him and quickly cast a Muffliato.
Lily only sobbed louder.
"Did someone hurt you?" Sirius kneeled as well. "You can tell us Evans, did someone do something to you?"
Lately a group of Slytherins had been targeting Muggleborns in the corridors of Hogwarts with an alarming frequency despite the teachers doing their best to stop them. Remus shot a look at Sirius who raised an eyebrow. They weren't going to mention it, but since their falling out Snape was only getting worse and they lived in constant fear he would target Lily specifically because of that. But she shook her head and pointed at a crumpled piece of paper at her feet. Remus took it with a frown and opened it carefully, smoothing the creases in the paper. Sirius shifted closer and they looked over the neat if pointy handwriting on the page.
Lily,
it's pointless to insist or even to drag Mum and Dad into this. After years and years of living in your shadow I finally have my own moment to shine, and I guarantee you won't take it from me. Once again, I don't want to see you or any of your people at my engagement party and I won't change my mind. Stop asking.
Petunia
Remus swallowed as he looked back at Lily's tear-stained face.
"Your sister?" he whispered although he knew the answer already.
She nodded, sobbing again, and Remus felt his heart shatter for his friend. As an only child he couldn't even begin to imagine how that kind of rejection from a sibling would feel. He had no idea what to say other than banalities and Lily deserved more than that. It was Sirius who moved to sit down by her side, passing an arm around her shoulders and sighing.
"What an ass," he said.
Lily sniffled, nodding, surprising Remus who had learned the hard way that only those related to certain asses got to call them that.
"No really, who does this?" Sirius rolled his eyes. "She wishes you were going to that sorry party of hers, it'd be the only way she could make it interesting."
Lily sniffled again, Remus moving to her side as well.
"And who's the idiot who's marrying her anyway?" Sirius went on. "Does he lack a brain?"
Lily nodded against Sirius's Bowie shirt, that same one Remus knew to be very careful around while here she was, almost crying into it with him not even batting an eyelid.
"He lacks empathy," she said. "He's a complete ass."
"Well, like goes with like and so forth," Sirius shrugged, and this time Lily chuckled.
She sat up straighter and Remus gave her his handkerchief, which she took with a smile.
"Thanks guys," she said.
"We're here for you," Remus smiled.
"And you know what helps a lot with siblings being assholes?" Sirius asked.
Lily shook her head and Remus did the same, even if he knew by heart every single thing, from the funny to the self-destructive, that Sirius had done trying to forget Regulus and the fact he had stopped speaking to him as soon as Sirius had escaped their parents' claws.
"A broomstick, an empty Quidditch pitch and the fastest speed you can reach flying," Sirius grinned.
"I don't really like flying but you know what, Black? I'm in," Lily nodded.
Later on, as he watched the two of them fly at an honestly frightening speed around the pitch, Remus smiled. That was the beauty of the friendships they had formed at Hogwarts. You would always find a friend knowing exactly what you were going through and ready with a solution.

I’d like to think that Remus’ reaction to someone commenting on his nail polish making him look gay would be something like ‘oh good lord please don’t tell my boyfriend’

What about Lily’s middle name being Jacintha? It’s of Spanish and Greek origin with a floral meaning tied to it. The name Jacintha means “hyacinth”, a flower associated with the god Apollo and his lover, Prince Hyacinthus.

“Tell me a story,” Sirius said, his voice muffled against Remus’s shoulder.
Remus hummed, fingers tracing lazy circles on his back. “What kind of story?”
“Ours. But make it sound pretty.”
Remus smiled into Sirius’s hair. “Alright, then: once upon a time, there was a boy who thought he was a monster. And another stubborn boy who refused to believe him.”
Sirius smiled sleepily. “And how does it end?”
Remus pressed a kiss behind his ear. “It doesn’t. That’s the best part.”

James in a muggle au would absolutely confront Walburga and Orion, if he sees them it is game over. He’s threatening to burn them to the ground and end their bloodline with the calmest expression on his face
James in a canon au wouldn’t. Not because he wouldn’t want to, no, he wouldn’t because he knows how powerful they are and he’s not stupid enough to endanger himself and his family, Sirius and Regulus included.

I think we often forget that the marauders era people were teens. Like every time I see "reg would never joke on that" "Sirius wouldn't make that much jokes abt his name" "lily wouldn't laugh at jokes on gingers" im like : yes they would actually. They were fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, of course they would make sex jokes, bad jokes, poop jokes, repetitive jokes: that's what you do when you're a teenager!

whats a stereotype for your country that you absolutely do. mine is that i unironically go "eh" and apologize a lot and i often drink maple syrup straight
