one thing that got my attention in the sneak peak/season 3 premiere date reveal about that scene of lottie being choked is that courtney's expression seems a bit serene, almost defiant

and, of course, it's just a frame and we can't know the entire context yet

but, based on the comment @periwinklekryptonite (thank you, chris <3) made on discord about how, if it's travis, there's a parallel with the scene of travis' death and lottie accidentaly letting him die bc she saw laura lee's ghost, i have the theory that maybe this is how the idea that you have to almost die to contact the wilderness comes from

like, maybe teen lottie is desperate to contact the wilderness again, especially after how last season ended, in which, according to director karyn kusama's interview for harpers bazaar, lottie may have realized the others will do what they feel like doing and lottie might not matter much in this scenario

so, desperate to find a purpose, maybe teen lottie realizes that she was able to have visions when she was on the brink of death -- the food court vision when she almost died of hypothermia, and also her visions of javi's death when she was literally fighting for her life after being brutally beaten down by shauna

and, so, she asks travis for help, bc maybe he might be easier to convince than the others due to feeling lost after his brother javi died

anyways, this is just a theory, and definetely not the only possible scenario

we don't even know if it's travis, and it might as well be ben!!!!

but, i think it'd be an interesting parallel with adult timeline

it would also help to explain why travis asked for lottie's help of all ppl in adult timeline

and, most of all, it would be a way to flesh lottie's character out by showing how she feels about the wilderness and her faith during a faith crisis of sorts

(disclaimer.: i don't ship travlot neither romantically or sexually, but i think their dynamic is too intriguing, especially bc lottie is one of the girls who, in courtney eaton's own words for vulture magazine post-1x09, sexually assaulted travis.

and yet he not only became one of her most loyal and enthusiastic acolytes -- he literally spilled his own blood with no hesitation after lottie asked him to, in that offering to save shauna's and the baby's lives --, but also is seemingly the only wilderness survivor who knew where lottie was before the events of adult timeline in season 2

the showrunners already confirmed during paley fest panel last year that there's no love triangle thing and there is no romance

but, that's the thing, platonic bonds are worthy of talking about as well

especially one as mysterious as this one)

yellowjackets premiering season 3 on valentine’s day is a perfect example of understanding your audience and your show. you mean to tell me the sapphic cannibalism show is promoting s3 with the tagline “eat your heart out” ??? hell fucking yeah. this is the kind of marketing i love.

“eat your heart out” yeah and that’s not the only thing they’ll being eating out.

I’ll never be over how Shauna sees the group’s faces in her dream after they’ve eaten the baby. It’s such a fascinating insight into Shauna’s mind to me. Lottie looks practically childlike. She makes an attempt to wipe her face but not in an ashamed way, it’s simply a casual motion to wipe her lip, as if the actual amount of blood on her face doesn’t exist to her and it’s simply a crumb that rests on her lip. It seems like she has orchestrated this, but she’s unaware what they are really doing, as if she doesn’t understand this is Shauna’s BABY.

Akilah looks terrified, she’s sorry she’s doing this but she can’t help it. She’s almost about to throw up thinking about what she’s doing but she’s just so hungry she can’t help but eat what’s been given.

Van nearly snarls like a fucking wolf which I find FASCINATING. Van has never been aggressive toward Shauna, but she IS a strong ally to Lottie, and that seems to be enough of a threat to Shauna.

Taissa is very clearly being seen as her sleepwalking self, with the quick movements, sloppy chewing, and animalistic stare. Natalie is desperately ashamed of what she has done, trying to wipe away the evidence and so sorry that she has betrayed Shauna in such a way but she just couldn’t stop herself. It’s as if Shauna knows neither of them could be consciously capable of this, even in her dream. These two have been her strongest allies and Shauna doesn’t believe they would willingly hurt her in this way, but it could still happen somehow. Natalie also has the least amount of blood on her, like she was the last to dig in, or ate the least and most carefully. Being as respectful as possible until the last second.

And Misty. Misty looks at Shauna as if she wants to worship her. She looks for a moment like “ah shit, listen Shauna I know this looks bad” but the most prominent message from her expression is as if she is grateful to Shauna for feeding them again. Shauna has been the one keeping them fed for so long. First with Jackie, and now her baby.

need an immediately post crash scene right when they tell them that lottie is being institutionalised because i NEED to see their reactions to finding out lottie was a schizophrenic off her meds

i love how jon joins the nights watch because he thinks that’s what he deserves. jon so obviously wanted to be a knight. he was obsessed with the songs of knighthood and gallantry but he isn’t a true born son. he isn’t brandon stark who has people encouraging him and feeding into his fantasy of being a knight. so he joins the watch and fucking hates it.

jon joins the bastard version of knighthood, the nights watch. he takes the same oaths he would’ve taken as a member of the kingsguard chastity, protect the realm, protect the innocent but instead of having songs sung about you and having a legacy to leave behind you sit on a cold wall and wait till you die.

this just makes me think if he had a little more self confidence and self worth he wouldn’t have gone to the wall and he could’ve helped robb win the war.

I love when fic writers talk abt Aeron having his hair braided and pulled back instead of the canon twists. Like yeah sometimes he does spend the time to braid strand of his hair back and fuss over them so they curve symmetrically when tied back. Like yes! He’s got one braid in his mouth to keep it tight and together while he does the other in front of his mirror. He’s practiced his hairstyle!! He’s pulling out the slut strands so everyone knows he’s that bitch!

I imagine that as much as Aeron loves Davos’s devotion, he can’t help but feel threatened, frighten even, by being at the receiving end of it all.

Privately, when they’re laying side by side naked, Aeron is haunted by knowing that if he had to, he would kill Davos. He already grapples with the guilt and shame that comes with loving a man—and a Blackwood at that—but Davos can be so reckless sometimes that Aeron worries he’s going to out them. That Davos is going to get them killed. That Davos is going to ask him to run away together.

And I can imagine Aeron hating himself for it. Because he’s never felt entirely whole but he’s learned to carry his pieces and hold them close. He strikes me as someone who shoulders a lot guilt and responsibility (whether that be self-imposed or via his house is up in the air), someone who tries to meet expectations, and giving a piece of himself over means he could shatter at any moment. (But he does it because he loves him.)

What makes it even worse is knowing that Davos can’t even bring himself to entertain such a thought. He knows this because after they’ve slept together, Davos lays beside him all bare and vulnerable. Trusting.

something something about aeron and davos being the appointed night guards of the boundary stones by their families and joking about being the night’s watch and one of them (davos) makes a comment about how they really could run away to the night’s watch together and suddenly its not a joke anymore and the next day the brackens’ declare for aegon and it’s all too late
