Can I just reiterate
how much I LOVE working at the comic book store? My bosses are wonderful. The work is wonderful. The products at the store are obviously wonderful. (The expansion for Betrayal at House on the Hill is on order and your girl has her eye on that shit.) I've already bought people birthday presents from work and that was also a success. Dang, I'm just so happy I found this job and that this job found me.

Sometimes I feel like if I’m talking to some of my guy friends and I’m telling them about something that I believe to be good like a TV show or a movie for example, they can’t take my word for it until another dude friend of ours confirms that said thing is good and that is so incredibly frustrating to me. Like it’s not enough for me to say something is good? Like my opinion doesn’t matter? Ugh.

Holy butts! I have a job interview at the comic book shop I applied to. I hope it lands in my favor. I’m so sick of constantly covering shifts that aren’t mine. It’s too dang stressful. But hey! If I get it, all of you beautiful people should come visit me and I will suggest only the best comic books for you to read. I think they sell some other nifty stuff there too. Wish me luck!

!!!
I applied at a little comic book shop today and when I talked to the guy, (who I’m assuming owns it or at least manages it) he seemed genuinely interested in hiring me. It seems like it went really well. He also was really nice so that helps a bunch too. I hope I get it! I wouldn’t have to drive clear across town for work anymore and I’d be done with working nights. Also, the work schedule is PERFECT for my school schedule and since the schedule is the way that it is, I’d probably be able to work at the pool in the summer too. I would be taking a hit as far as pay goes but I think the other things definitely outweigh that. I’ve been having to work a lot at my current job and I just really can’t do it anymore. It also helps that I like comic books. :P *crosses fingers over and over and over*

I'm thinking about cutting out alcohol altogether because my anxiety is SO much worse during/the next day. It's fun and all but dang, the amount of anxiety I get kind of makes it not worth it. I don't know. Just thinking out loud, I guess.

Oh hey wow
Even as a 24 year old adult, watching your parents get divorced is pretty hard. I couldn’t imagine doing this as a kid. Although, it’s not so much the divorce that gets me. (Don’t get me wrong, that’s definitely a large chunk of it.) It’s the astounding effort I have to put in to not being around my dad. You might be thinking, “Wow, Michelle. That’s your father. I don’t know what he’s done but at the end of the day, he’s still your dad.” To you I say, “Fuck you. You’re right. You don’t know what he’s done and I don’t owe you an explanation. All you need to know is that it’s bad for me to be near him right now and even that explanation is probably more than you deserve so bye.” Anyway, yeah, it’s hard. Sorry to anyone who has been through this/who is currently going through this.

A little tip for parents with children in school (or for children in school to show their parents)
My mom gave me and my sister two days every semester that she called “mental health days.”
Those were days, that for ANY reason, and without having to tell my mom the reason, we could skip the day of school. We’d just tell her we were taking a mental health day and she’d call the school and let them know we were not coming in.
#1 This helped keep our grades up by lowering our stress levels. I never got a C in any grade school class. The majority of my classes I received A’s. I also took 4 AP classes and they were not weighted. Trust me, it made a difference.
#2 I never felt the need to skip school. I knew if I ever wanted to or needed to my mom would help me.
Your kids are young and need time to recover. They need some days where they can do nothing but stay in bed for no reason. They need their own space where their privacy is respected. It will make a huge difference.
