【26 Days of Ukyo】

August 1, Day 1.

I was originally gonna start off this Daily Ukyo Drawings with a very sad Ukyo but a smiling, happy Ukyo was what my heart yearned for lol.

Dance with Me

Prompt: Dance

Setting: AU. Set in Amnesia World, Normal World-verse, Ukyo’s route (ending).

Pairing: Ukyo x Heroine

“Please… Dance with me…?”

Ukyo stood dumbfounded, staring into Heroine’s tearful eyes.

In the room swallowed by darkness, with only the faint light shining from the room adjacent granting visibility the two figures stood, enveloped in silence.

After spending time with her, pretending to be her ‘Prince’ in order to appease the deep yearning of wanting to stay by her side that threatened to consume him, he had planned to… protect her by facing the 25th’s tragedy by himself.

However, he was stopped in his tracks by Heroine’s plea.

Still dressed in his princely garb from today’s events, Ukyo stood rigidly in place, unable to comprehend Heroine’s words. It wasn’t until Heroine spoke again that he broke out of his trance.

“Please, Ukyo… Dance with me?” she uttered, her hand clenching the fabric of his right sleeve. She didn’t want to let him go. Not after seeing that memory (or was it a vision? She didn’t know; couldn’t remember; didn’t want to remember such a heart-breaking moment) of Ukyo saying goodbye and walking away from her.

‘This is goodbye. We’ll never cross paths ever again. I’m sorry.’

Those words still ringing painfully clear in her mind made her heart clench, and she held on to Ukyo tighter without realising it.

‘I don’t want to part with you. I don’t want to see you go. Please…’ Heroine continued to stare pleadingly into Ukyo’s eyes. She had always liked his eyes—the deep green tinged with orange hues like sunset over a hill. But while they looked gentle, there was also an overwhelming sense of pain underneath them that she couldn’t place.

‘Why do you always look so sad?’

Swallowing a lump forming in his throat, Ukyo looked away. He couldn’t. He’s already overstayed this place. He’s already overcrossed his boundaries. He shouldn’t. The more he lingered in this world, in her presence, the more dangerous things would become for her. He had to protect her. He had to let this dream end.

But despite all the logic going through his mind, he… for once, he wanted to be selfish. He wanted to indulge in his desires of being close to her, holding her, talking to her—being with her. Even though deep down he knew it wasn’t right. Nothing was right. This Heroine wasn’t his.

But she was also her.

He wanted to refuse her request so badly, because it was the right thing to do. But…

Biting his lower lip, Ukyo glanced back at the woman clinging to him and felt all his resolve disappear. Silently berating himself for being weak to her charms, he smiled gently at her, “You know I can never say no to you, especially not when you’re looking at me that way.”

Placing a hand on Heroine’s that was grasping his right sleeve, Ukyo gently pried her hand away and held it in his.

Ukyo’s touch was so soft, as if he was holding onto something precious, that it nearly broke Heroine’s heart. ‘Why… Why are you treating me this way?’

Taking a step back whilst still lightly grasping Heroine’s hand in his left one, Ukyo placed his other hand on his chest—right above his heart—and bowed. Smiling up at her tenderly, feeling tears forming behind his eyes, Ukyo uttered softly, “May I have this dance, Princess?”

‘One more time. One last time. I just need this moment with her and I’ll be satistied.’

Heroine smiled kindly in return, curtseying in her kimono and holding on to Ukyo’s hand tight, “Of course, my Prince.”

In the dark room, the couple danced to a silent song, each imagining a melody composed by their hearts. A silent plea for time to stop so they could spend that moment together forever thudding in their chest…

Which means… 26 Days of Ukyo incoming! 💜

I’ll draw daily Ukyos for the next 26 days! I was originally planning to draw the sequence of Ukyo’s tragedy and descent to madness (and finally being happy with Heroine on the 26th) but that’s too mortifying. 😂
