Trektober prompt day 5: time travel

“Spock, what are you doing? Stay out of sight… Spock? Spock, what’s wrong?”

“I… do not recall most of our fight. To witnesses its barbarity is… unsettling.”

“Spock, look at me. I’m fine. You couldn’t help it. Now I need you to focus. Why would the Guardian send us back to this time? What are we missing?”

"With the pencil, I tell my story...

I trace family tales around the little scar, making sure the wound continues to heal. I try to unfold into paper the wrinkled hands of my grandmother, which, even trembling, never faltered. I long to express the love and warmth of my mother's words, heavy to the ear but filled with hope. I attempt to reflect the incredible work of my sister, whose will persists in the pursuit of human rights, no matter how hard and tragic it may be.

And I search, repeatedly, to find the smile of that uncle I never knew and always missed.

Because marching stirs me up, narrating it hurts me, but drawing it heals me.

And perhaps I’m just trying to put a band-aid on the wound. That deep and piercing wound that still hurts.

It is healing, slowly, but it is.

And in the meantime, I draw. I draw my grandmother's handkerchief. I draw my mother's stories. I draw my sister's work.

Because that’s what I can do. Because with my pencil, I tell my story..."

Con el lápiz cuento mi historia...

Trazo los relatos familiares alrededor de la cascarita cuidando que la herida siga curándose. Intenta explayar las arrugadas manos de mi abuela ,que incluso temblando, nunca decayeron. Anhelo expresar el cariño y calidez de las palabras de mi madre, pesadas al oído pero llenas de esperanza. Trato de reflejar el increíble trabajo de mi hermana, que por más duro y trágico sea, persiste su voluntad en búsqueda de los derechos humanos.

Y busco, repetidamente, encontrar la sonrisa de aquel tío que nunca conocí y siempre extrañé.

Porque movilizarme me agita, narrarlo me duele, pero dibujarlo me sana.

Y quizás tan solo busco ponerle una curita a la herida. Aquella herida profunda y punzante que aún duele.

Se va cura, lentamente, pero lo hace.

Y mientras tantos, yo dibujo. Dibujo el pañuelo de mi abuela. Dibujo las narraciones de mi mamá. Dibujo el trabajo de mi hermana.

Porque eso puedo hacer. Porque con mi lápiz cuento mi historia...
