1970: The SUPER KITCHEN of the FUTURE! | Tomorrow's World | Retro Tech | BBC Archive
Are you tired of all that exercise you do around the kitchen? Let your kitchen do the walking for you!
youtube
All in orange, of course.
William Woollard (born 23 August 1939) British historian and retired television producer and presenter) tests out a new 'Super Kitchen' - which uses futuristic design technology to minimize space, maximize storage and optimise cooking efficiency.
The centrepiece of tomorrow's kitchen is a revolving cylindrical column, which contains cupboard space, a dishwasher, a microwave oven, a refrigerator and a double oven. Ceiling units contain concealed lighting, storage units and plastic dispensers. The real revolution however, is a built-in domestic computer terminal, which you can use to quickly access recipes and work out cooking times. With all this state-of-the-art technology, the super kitchen of the future will make cooking so easy, even a man will be able do it.
Clip taken from Tomorrow's World, originally broadcast on BBC One, 24 December, 1970.
You have now entered the BBC Archive, a time machine that will transport you back to the golden age of TV to educate, entertain and enlighten you with classic clips from the BBC vaults.
