Also one of these days when I have the time hear my essay on “how removing the implied abuse plot for Disney’s sake is infantilizing their audience”
Rick Riordan count your days I will never forgive you for taking “All I want is to see my loving step father again” and Sally turning her abuser into stone away from me
#percy jackson#pjo tv show#like yes I am not the target audience of this show#but middle graders are fully capable of processing

Listen, these are far from my complete thoughts on the show, there are things I do enjoy, but I think the most frustrating changes are the genuinely unnecessary ones.
You are telling me “You cant take an airplane or I will zap you out of the Sky” Zeus would not have ended Percy the second he came out of the Lotus Casino after the solstice deadline past? Like why make it past the solstice at all if there were no stakes to this?
or the pearl scene? The whole gravity of the scene in the books was they only had three but Annabeth and Grover were willing to stay so Percy could save his mom. So why start with 4 and go through the whole Cerberus thing Grover, just for the same outcome. Especially, when the books portrayed the gravity of the situation better.
#I am still trying to figure out why the introduced hephaestus this early#Don’t get me wrong the actors are killing it with what they were given#the writing and pacing as a whole is definitely a choice#I didn’t expect much from rr considering how he struggles with continuity in general#but why change things that end up having the exact same outcome?#percy jackson#pjo tv show

I seen a lot of people argue at Percy is too smart in the show but One, Sally Jackson used Greek myths as bedtime stories, she took him to museums, she did her best to teach him about the God's and monster's that were gonna come to hurt him, was he ment to not learn anything? And Two, Perseus Jackson isn't an idiot! The books are from HIS point of view and he's is an unreliable narrator that THINKS he's an idiot. He's not ACTUALLY an idiot.
#This!!#Like I do think Sally introducing the Myths to Percy makes sense#like she is trying to prepare him the best she can with her limited ability#and I think Percy is far from dumb#But you are telling me a neruodivergent 12 yo took in all these teachings#but also conveniently remembers the stories for all the ones they run into?#Personally I blame the episode run time#like there is no time to flesh stuff out in 30 maybe 40 minutes#its insane to me that a S1 of a show needs to be about world building#just as much as it is about plot#yet we will only get 5 1/2#maybe 6 hours of run time total

rr complete lack of care for his own canon fascinates me actually because imagine going to a concert and the act just starts changing all the songs lyrics just cause
#this is why the post hoo pjo universe is just whatever I want it to be 😂#hoo might be generous#because if rr completely disregards his own canon#so can I 😂#rr crit#percy jackson

Honestly, I think the complaints I have with the show would be solved if the episodes were an hour long. Like I get I am not the target audience for the show, but the pacing is all over the place.
#like they keep telling because there is no time for showing#idk if this makes sense#but it makes sense in my brain 😂#key things could also be included that are getting cut out or moved around#pjo show crit#pjo tv show

Yep
am I having a quarter life crisis and contemplating changing my whole career?
Being an adult is a scam
Did I finally get to see Annabeth call Percy Seaweed Brain on screen and dive back into to my pjo era?
Absolutely

that scene in tlo where thalia tells percy he can't start feeling sorry for luke bc luke made his choices. and thalia reveals that the reason they couldn't make it to camp in time for all of them to make it to camp was bc luke kept picking fights. and annabeth never saw this as wrong bc luke was her hero. so thalia had to pick up the pieces. and percy thinking both that luke was put in a cruel position and that luke was putting others in a cruel position. and percy is the only character who understood both sides of luke bc annabeth sees only the best of him and thalia sees only the worst. and that's why percy is the prophecy kid and the one who gives luke the knife. bc annabeth had spent the entire series essentially giving luke the knife when he didn't deserve it. and thalia was never going to give luke the knife. but percy is the only one who can see exactly when luke deserves the knife.
#this 👏🏼#‘both that luke was put in a cruel position and that luke was putting others in a cruel position.’#hit Luke’s whole character on the head
