I finally finished my second animatic! After getting slapped in the face for a lil while I finally found time to finish it and I’m already working on the next one :))

After growing up in the adoptive care of a pair of robots Ember embarks out into the capital planet to locate the mysterious boy she has been dreaming about - a young man who looks peculiarly similar to herself.

While there she learns about the cruelties and madness of the current reigning Emperor and joins Vynellope, leader of the Tawny Lily group, in the adventure to gain the alliance of the main cities so that together they can finally try take down Emperor Draluraan. Annddd maybe fall in love along the way.

Extra context: Ash essences’ are the result of two different magic types attempting the creation ritual - which is strictly forbidden. They are typically killed on sight but when one met up with the, at the time, young prince he had pleaded with his father for her life. This request was granted on the condition that she be raised as a tool for the royal family. When the rest of his family were lost to a mysterious tragedy and his sister vanished, Lahlia became the only person the paranoid Emperor could trust. She kills indiscriminately on his command - protecting him at any cost and ignoring his madness even in the face of his evil.

The court jester played more of a role in the Emperors court than mere jokes and jests - in fact, those who had met Vyncent would tell you he was far more serious than his parlour tricks would lead you to believe. He had clawed his way into being closer to the Emperor than anyone since Galaeya’s disappearance. This closeness was a weapon he held no moral qualm about exploiting.

Vyncent once belonged to quiet race residing on a nearby moon. They were said to have possessed the talent of clairvoyance - though of course this clairvoyance was never particularly reliable or as clear as the infamous power of the Queen of Below ‘Deia’. However, their clairvoyance was never what Vincent’s people were known for. Rather, it was the crystal embedded in their moon which granted them eternal youth. Eternal youth was not enough to protect them. When Draluraan’s army marched on their moon demanding their crystal the people did not go down without a fight and the Emperor’s army left none alive. None but Vyncent who went on to become the Emperor’s right hand man, Jester and dearest friend - earning himself the title of traitor.

As children of the Meritriell family - and thereby the divine spirits of light - they were expected to reset the lifespan of their star and with it create the next generation of their family together.

After the disappearance of princess Galaeya, Emperor Draluraan no longer seemed himself. The once glorious prince of light had transformed into a maddened dying flame, obsessed with eternal life. Some say he was simply distraught over the loss of his sister, others swear that they saw something distinctly wrong with his shadow.

Galaeya, on the other hand, was found by a family of living robots and was raised on one of the local moons. She grew up having no idea who she was yet as happy and curious as she had once been. Still, she believed that a part of herself was missing so she set out on a journey of self discovery.
