âi dunno â i think iâm getting too friggen old to dress up..â theodoreâs nose scrunches up as he shakes his head. âi never really look like anything by the end of the night anyways.. i always lose a part of my costume â like a vital part.. the part that defines to others who the hell i am. one year i lost my ace ventura card and i just looked like this weird tropical tourist guy and the rest of the night just wasnât the same.. constantly having to explain to everyone..â if he ended up out on halloween it would be for the sole reason that one of the guysâ had dragged him out â the likelihood was slim, he hoped. âare you going out on thursday??â
halloween wasnât ever his favorite time of the year and he didnât really grasp this odd fascination with it, but he didnât dislike it. all in all, it was a good excuse for partying and he could even put up with sporting some peculiar attire. âmust be a universal experience, âcause, does anyoneâs costume ever survive the whole night?â he remarked with a throaty chuckle. âi dressed up as captain picard once, but the bald cap kept on slipping off. not worth the bother.â so far his circle of friends in portland was nearly nonexistent and for the first time he was thankful nobody was bombarding him with party invitations. ânah, i have work,â skyler clicked his tongue and raised a brow at the other. âgot any trick or treatinâ in plans?â

â iâve been trying to find a way to expand my business beyond flowers. not that thereâs anything wrong with flowers, but i just feel like i could be offering MORE, you know? anyway, iâve looked into doing edible arrangements and wow are they complicated. iâm beginning to wonder if itâs even worth it. what do you think? do you think theyâll even sell or do you think iâm wasting my time? â
again, skyler was late with rent and hoped a big bouquet for the landlady would grant him a few days more. with his narrowed eyes zeroed in on the flowers with names that hardly rang a bell, his attention was diverted upon picking up on edible arrangements. âsorry, what?â he frowned, trying to make sense of what he had just heard. âare they made of edible flowers or something?â giving the woman a yet another confused look, then he shrugged his shoulders and cracked a small grin. âiâve got no idea whatâs the market for those, but i believe you can make it work.â

Have you met SKYLER MILES yet? Theyâre the TWENTY-TWO year old CLUB BOUNCER who has been living in Portland for TWO MONTHS now. Word has it that theyâre LIVELY, but can also be BRASH at times. Donât worry if you havenât seen them yet, just play BORDERLINE BY TAME IMPALA and youâll be sure to get their attention.
howâs it goinâ dear pals? iâm riley (they/them, 21+, gmt) and i cannot wait to start writing with you all!! below you can read up more about skyler, a trust fund baby who recently fell from grace.
tw: mentions of drugs and alcohol abuse
born on april 15, 1997 in perth, australia. he was only three when his family moved to the united states, so he doesnât really consider it his hometown. most of his life he spent in los angeles, california.
the only child of a lawyer couple, was always quite a spoiled brat and sometimes a pain in the neck, too. he wasnât the most obedient kiddo and whenever he got into some shit, rarely did he fail to get away with it. this feeling of impunity was more of an issue later on.
he was an average student who was excelling at multiple sports. boxing was his favorite and he actually wanted to go in that direction. skyler was participating in local championships that got him a nice collection of medals.
his another interest was partying, which had gotten too excessive. but again, his parents were far from bothered when it came to confronting his shenanigans. so, this way he kept doing his thing. getting into fights, pulling harmful pranks and drunkenly staggering back home became his regular basis.
in his senior year of high school he got involved in drug dealing. obviously, it wasnât the matter of making extra cash. that wasnât what he needed. he was simply looking for another source of instant adrenaline.
it was going on for two years. at first he was just selling it before starting to use the stuff himself. it started to get worse and worse. eventually he got into the main distributorâs black books for not discharging his duties properly. he was in debt and so finally he reached out to his parents, who werenât... overjoyed. but they wiped off the debt under one condition: skyler had to start earning his keep.
he felt like a burden. after making some money doing odd jobs, he left los angeles for portland. it was a rather impulsive decision.
itâs been two months since he moved. he works at a club as a bouncer and rents a small, crappy apartment. skylerâs certainly missing his lavish lifestyle he more or less willingly said goodbye to. is he weighing the pros and cons of shaking hands with drug dealing again? yeah.
