Winter smiled as she sat down across his desk and opened the folder. “Needless to say, this information is all classified.”
There were a variety of images of an ancient and crumbling temple, but notes indicating it seemed stable. However, the key item that Winter was showing was a massive archway, easily ten foot in diameter, beneath the night sky. There were an assortment of symbols along an inner ringer, and the outer ring seemed to hold a number of evenly spaced protrusions that vaguely resembled arrows.
“It seems to made of metal, but we can’t tell what kind. And compared to the rest of the architecture, its completely intact. It was in a courtyard, we almost couldn’t find it until we found a secret door,” Winter pointed at the inner ring, “And that appears to be able to spin. We aren’t sure why, or how, but the looseness seems to indicate mobility.”
“We’ve got a few theories. The rest of the courtyard is still being cleaned up and excavated. And there is some ancient imagery within the temple. And…” She trailed off, “Despite the building’s age, it seemed to come to life when we entered. Like there was some sort of electric current, but we can’t figure out what’s powering it. Lights. What we originally thought were encased torches came to life.”
“Of course, I understand completely.”
The doctor sat there and stared at the woman with careful observation looking at ever piece of information she presented. The temple fascinated him he began staring at the runes his mind racing as he tried to identify their origin. The green haired man got up and more carefully inspected the images were given some of the runes were starting to look familiar but it was hard to figure out.
The man slowly shook his head mumbling.
“Some of these look familiar and yet....some of them seem at least form these images...the door well arch really as you stated, are foreign to me. I suppose i could make any number of assumptions based on that yet...if you want a more accurate prediction.... I suppose I would have to visit the sight itself.”

“Ah Miss Schnee.” it felt odd to say as he had become quite accustomed to speaking to Winter’s younger sister still he was not going to forgo propriety over something so trivial. To be honest he was rather thrilled at the challenge she’d brought him today. Mysteries from parts of Remnants long dead past, things to be learned from information to be acquired, in a way their jobs entailed much the same...the gain of knowledge it was the motivation behind it that differentiated their chosen walks of life.
“I am well versed in the history of all continents of Remnant as well as I might be and I am always eager to learn more...your request mentioned something from before the Great War a time still shrouded in mystery let me have a look and I will do as best as I can for your mission Miss.”

“Dr. Oobleck. Thank you for seeing me.”
Information was the most important thing Winter could bring back as an Atlas Specialist. And during a recent scouting mission, she had found something most peculiar in the ruins of an old temple from before the Great War.
And Dr. Bartholomew Oobleck was the most hailed historian in Remnant. The general had made arrangements with Ozpin, and she had prepared a report, with photos of the artifacts and location,
“I found something in the outskirts of Anima, and I thought you might be able to take a look at it, advise us as to what it might be.”

“Wonderful just wonderful, I was actually hoping to put in a rather large order for the winter season...early of course as I’m sure you’re still fairly busy this time of year. I had quite a few sweaters in mind which seemed to fall in your regular commissions but I wasn’t sure you did neckties this is just marvelous news.”
The doctor could be described by many as pleased as punch.
"Do you perchance accept commissions for neckties Ms.Fall?"

“-I mean its certainly an unusual request, Professor Oobleck, but nothing I couldn’t handle.”

“I’m sure he’ll learn the hard way sooner or later.” The kid would make the mistake of picking on the wrong huntsman and wind up regretting it, or worse. “Yes, let’s get going. Where are we going?” He was pretty sure he’d decided to let Oobleck choose, but the conversation as a whole was a little hazy. He’d been really tired.
“Righto! The restaurant is around the center of the city, run by a charming balding gentleman...they serve quite an array of dishes though as per your preferences I was sure to make us reservations at the bar.” The Golden Wok was a high end Anima inspired food place, no cheap take out or hasty buffets everything was made upon order fresh and according to the traditions of Anima.
The doctor was a sucker for places that actually respected the culture and origins of the country whom’s culture they were using to sell food.

The note taking Jaune employed would not be something anyone could borrow, because it followed no rhyme or reason. Instead, it seemed to branch off in blurbs and circles in random jumbles of information.
But for Jaune it worked, and it helped him retain information. That might have been why he had so much trouble in classes normally. Linear learning just didn’t click into his brain.
Truth was Oobleck’s seemingly random manner was a challenge, and it forced him to keep up, rather then go stagnant. So he only stopped writing when his pen ran out and he had to grab another.
“-how did it start? Does anyone know? Or remember? Or was it all just because they were different?” Jaune looked up then, the question formed between the information bubbles on his pages.
The inquisitive mind he was discovering in Mr.Arc satisfied the Doctor greatly as an educator it was something just weeks ago he would have argued didn’t exist yet here it was. He smiled a bit, the young man’s questions showed his engagement with the subject matter his ability to truly grasp and pay attention. Pride in the boy continued for Oobleck as he contemplated the best format to answer the question.
“You ask a very good question Mr.Arc very good indeed...it’s one historians such as myself and much greater than myself have often contemplated. There are key events that set things in motion of course key figures who’s actions lead to it, why the whole Faunus Rights Revolution started out of an ignorant offer over the negotiations table at the end of the great war. In order to make faunus ‘equal’ a man there form Mistral proposed rather ill thought out and offhandedly to give them their own country...however, his idea of a gift took very little into consideration and many among the Faunus saw it as an effort to contain and restrict them. Then in completely justified rage some lashed out violently which led to the entire Faunus Rights War, and many humans foolishly harbor resentment over the fact that the faunus ‘started’ that war forgetting all too quickly it was the ignorant and thoughtless words of human that set loose their rage. Predating those events much of the poor treatment and enslavement of the faunus was due to fear...fear of others who possessed abilities superior to that of humans...fear of being overtaken that lead to the subjugation of a people we simply did not understand. Fear is important it can keep us alive and wary Mr.Arc but if you are to learn anything out of all this it is not to let it control you and further more that the words you say matter and impact those around you and should be chosen with great care.”

The Tour
@zinnherzens
From here: X
“Ah that’s quite alright General i know you’re a very busy man and I am indeed counting it among good fortune I was able to find even a moment of your time for conversation! I do tend to get carried away with myself moving here and there the students keep me quite busy as you’ll find, but, that is the joy of the field if I do say so myself!” regardless of the recent tension involved in the General’s arrival the Doctor maintained a profound respect for him and his contributions to the advancement in more ways than one to his country and the unmistakable historical mark he had left on the world and continued to do so.
“You’ll find I take that more as a challenge than a warning General history is history no matter the progress and I think you will find it is in fact the rapid advancement of Atlas’ technology that is so relevant to the history books. Why so many engineering minds such as yourself in the past have taken great pains to develop and thrive in a climate such as Atlas’ I would say it’s quite safe to assume rapid development is a survival tactic ingrained in your very society. There are books upon books about your air-faring technology alone many that I’ve read and that’s just one branch of many!” the bespectacled man shook his head a bit with a smile pleased to have company that would indulge him in a long and intellectual discussion.
“That all aside though I would be honored to see something that might pique my interest because it likely mos certainly will! History may be my main love and passion but, I have many others in fact I confess my initial interest in seeing your fine vessel was in fact to satisfy a more architectural curiosity of mine! I very much appreciate you using your sudden recess from obligation to humor me General.”

Bartholomew collects neckties, all kinds but primarily terrible ones.
You didn’t need to know that but I feel the need to put it out there, this precious dork has a whole like stand up non wall embedded custom closet full of just neckties, and has like 10 of this one yellow one because students don’t give him flack for it but when he’s out on social occasions he wears just one of many MANY others.

The food was gone in record time and Bartholomew chuckled again at the small dog’s antics, well there would certainly be time for fetch now. Feeling the small thump on his leg he looked down at the dog’s rather adorable position and smiled more animals were very in tune with their surroundings had the sense the doctors trepidation. He smiled and pat the dogs head picking him up for some well deserved head scratches as he set the corgi in his lap.
“No need to be worried my good friend you didn’t make me sad.” he scratched gently behind the dogs ears smiling. “You just reminded me of a good friend of mine thank you....you are a good boy Zwei. Now...do you want to play?” as treat seemed to get the dog excited he had no doubt with Ruby as one of his owners the corgi was more than familiar with the word play. He set the dog down again and pulled a small red ball from next to a picture on the shelf behind his desk, the picture of his old dog he’d kept her collar and her ball it would suit them well and he knew in his heart she wouldn’t mind.
She had always been such a friendly girl to all who knew her human and dog alike no doubt she would have liked the corgi.
“Come now, let us head outside for some fun.” he smiled and showed the corgi the ball in his hand.

Doctor Oobleck is a very good human person and Zwei deeply enjoyed being carried buy him and listening to him talk. Sure, Zwei could only really tell that he was talking about him, well since he was the only do around. Even so, he did his very best to grasp what the good doctor was telling him.
Zwei however, did know that everything being said was being good. He knew that much. People sound way different when he did something bad. Zwei did his very best to not do bad things.. though he did tend to vomit in the house every once and a while.. Ruby never seems upset at him for it though..
While in lost in his dog thoughts, he realized Dr. Oobleck had put him on the office floor with a nice head pat. Zwei thwumped his tail on the floor in excitement. This was getting better! The office smelled great!
Zwei was so excited about being called a good boy he couldn’t keep himself sitting. He stood up and wiggled very excitedly back and forth. He also smelled to warm food before he heard mention of it but the fact that it was for him made him back for joy. Doctor Oobleck barely had time to set it down before the corgi was chowing down. He couldn’t help it, chicken is his favorite but any food is good.. just not cabbage..YUCK!
Zwei stopped to look up at Doctor Oobleck. His voice was much softer now. Not exactly sad but.. Zwei didn’t really know. He walked carefully over to him and placed his head on Doc’s leg. Zwei wagged his tail and perked his ears forward. Yang and Ruby loved that. Zwei hoped it would make things better too. Maybe a head tilt was in order? Time would tell.

She lead him in, holding the door open without a second thought. It brought her back to her first shift, guarding the door as a feathered bouncer. There was a certain power in appearances. That Junior placed her there showed that she clearly had the ability to keep the unwanted clear of the bar. Her boss may be foolish at times, but he was no idiot. Waving to the bartender as she approached, she wondered what could possibly be hidden underneath the sharp intelligence and genuine smiles.
“If there’s any more questions that come to mind, let me know. The name’s Miltia, by the way,” being called ‘ma'am made her feel much older. Her full name was not much better. While she focused her attention to him, she kept an eye out for other customers, ensuring she would be ready to break a fight.
“Ah Miltia what a lovely name, I am Bartholomew it has been a pleasure meeting you tonight.” he continued to smile and in truth it was a lovely name his eyes scanned around the bar looking for signs of the patched damage he knew of but, he had to make sure not to just jump right to it and bring it up naturally. He ordered a single drink and let the lady order what she wished still keeping a conversation going.
“This is quite the exceptional counter is it made of marble?” the music was blaring this was no the doctors element but he kept that as covered up as he could manage to.

“I have the staff room couch to thank for that,” Qrow said. “Hard day at work?” He’d known a few of those as a teacher. Students who wouldn’t listen and lived to do nothing but cause trouble. Another reason he’d been happy to give up teaching. Unlike Barty, Qrow just didn’t have the patience to put up with that kind of bullshit.
Oobleck nodded in approval at the answer but shook his head agitated just a tiny bit at the question...nothing brought him more joy than educating young minds, but sometimes....sometimes.
“Yes well I have a few, problem students, don’t we all? But, despite my ability to overcome and reason with many of them this particular student almost seems rooted in the ground on maintaining his ignorance. It seems to empower him to belittle his fellow students it is his favorite pass time quite the problem...” he murmured to himself a bit longer about he problem before shaking his head.
“Anyways the evening is still ripe why don’t we get going?”

She wondered what kind of relevant information could possibly emerge from knowing the history of this specific building. He didn’t appear to be a city contractor, for certain, and she was sure the club itself was up to code (at least, structurally). Then again, academics had never been her strong suit, which perhaps it the reason she worked in the club in the first place. His politeness was welcome but unfamiliar– the regulars were often not the type to bother smile her way.
“Really, I hardly said anything…” it wasn’t the sort of information, given how scarce she knew, that she’d feel comfortable accepting thanks for. “But there’s room inside,” she gestured to the club, “If you really insist,” saying no to a drink, when offered by someone who’s intentions weren’t, or at least, seemingly weren’t, inherently malicious would be a waste, in Miltia opinion.
The man felt fortunate to meet someone so...well...contrary to the sort of person he expected to be asking fore information. From the inside he could glean more see where had been repaired recently and make guesses at the questions Ozpin wanted answered and he would as he mentioned by the woman a drink...he was after all cutting into her work time and he wasn't sure how that would affect her personally...and if he wanted to be able to blend in he’d need to buy something for himself.
“That sounds perfect, thank you very much I greatly appreciate your help ma’m it means more to me than you might assume.” he smiled again, certain working here would be tiring based on the sorts of people he’d seen go in and out of this place.

Sounds good,” Qrow said, stretching out across the couch once more. He quickly set an alarm on his scroll and closed his eyes once more, falling into a dreamless sleep.
Later he made his way to the front of the school to meet Oobleck. He’d managed to clean up a bit after waking up and dealing with the crap of another day. Jimmy still hadn’t forgiven him for provoking Winter into a fight, but there was literally nothing the general could do about that. It was hard to intimidate someone who’d been raised to give zero fucks about any authority except that in the tribe. And even then, he hadn’t done well with it. He checked his scroll and shook his head over the message from Yang declaring war tomorrow when they were done school. As if they could beat him in video games. His semblance had very few perks, but that was definitely one of them.
Bartholomew stood in his usual attire and saw Qrow come up he was quite accustomed to being early so the wait had bothered him very little. Qrow didn’t appear at least for now ready to fall over so that was a good sign for at least making some conversation before the other man was either too tired or too inebriated to actually ‘catch up’ as one might put it.
“Ah you look well this evening I think you’ll be pleased with the decision I’ve reached it’s a rather nice restaurant, my treat of course...and as I”m sure will please you the bar is more than fully stocked...honestly I could go for a drink or two myself this evening.” he had his own share of headaches complaints about grades numerous essays to parse through, the usual agitations from Mr.Winchester and his team who seemed absolutely hellbent to make the history instructors life a living hell not that he’d admit to it getting on his nerves out loud you couldn’t take those risks with students like them.

@of-caffeine-and-historybooks
Zwei was having a wonderful dream, no longer was he in the RWBY team’s room. He was in a long, dew kissed field. The sun was bright with joy as it had just rose over the hills and trees casting it’s warm, bright light. The grass was soft and long, filled with so many interesting little bugs and creatures. As he peaking over the long grass, he noticed the two long ears of hare. Zwei was so excited he barked and dashed off in chase. Startling the hare with his excitement, it bolted away so fast! He knew he would never catch the rabbit or what he would really do if he actually could. This didn’t stop him though. He leaped and dashed right after but he was loosing ground. Maybe this time would be different… maybe he really could catch it!
Zwei heard the sound of a door and was pulled from the dream. He breathed in deeply and then let out a long sigh. Zwei didn’t really expect anyone at this time of day. The girls would be gone for a bit longer than this.. Zwei hoped that no one was sick… maybe Blake would be home early and finally play tug with him.
Wiggling his ears, he could tell from his unique voice that it was Doctor Oobleck! This made him excited but he was still very sleepy. Where.. did the.. rabbit go? He was unprepared for being picked up but that was okay, it wasn’t very often he got to see Doctor Oobleck. He seemed so happy and that made Zwei very excited. He barked and tried licking Mr. Oobleck’s face to say hello!
Zwei’s eyes lit up as Doctor Oobleck said “treat”. OH BOY, not only did he get to play with him, he was going to give him TREATS. Zwei could barely hold in all his excitment. Treats were way better than any bunny rabbit, as Ruby called them. He knew that the rest of his day was going to be so exciting he could hardly wait! Zwei wagged his tail thumping it hard against Doctor Oobleck. He was ready for anything!
Bartholomew smiled he appeared to have roused the sleepy thing from a nice rest but he was certain what he had to offer would make up for it. The canine had proven a stout companion in both hunt and combat and he could easily survive a little less sleep the instructor carried the corgi clean across beacon talking to the wagging, wiggle dog the whole time.
“You are quite the most wondrous dog you know that? You show an outrageous loyalty in combat and a skill for assistance and you hold such a deep understanding with your owners I can tell. Ah well perhaps all this rambling means very little to you let me see I am a bit wordy which is not the proper way to communicate with a companion of your type....” he reached his office and set the dog gently on the floor and patted his head gently.
“I’ll make it brief, you are a very good dog Zwei.” with that the man moved to the small carefully prepared, canine safe warm meal he had made up just to thank Zwei and set it down in front of him.
“You were a great help to me so I made something just for you..eat to your hearts content and perhaps if there is still time left on my break we will play fetch or whatever amuses you most.” Oobleck smiled again, he’d had a dog when he was a boy...yes he could still remember her.
