Searching for a Draco/Harry fic on AO3

Hi all, I’m not sure if this is the right way to go about it, but there’s a fic that I’m searching for that I can’t quite find. The plot involves a Draco/Harry pairing with a daughter. They are unmarried but do live together after Harry accidentally impregnated Draco during an end of year Hogwarts party when Draco drank champagne Blaise had spiked with a pregnancy potion for Lavender. The daughter is in her first year at Hogwarts and constantly gets sick from Wheeze’s products to trick her parents into seeing her after Draco or Harry moved out; Hermione works as the Healer at Hogwarts.

Freelance worker lives in huge, gorgeous house/apartment in expensive area despite never seeming to be working

Characters work 8-5 office job with hour-long commute, but go to bed no earlier than midnight and get up in time for morning sex and long, leisurely cooked breakfasts every day

Do these characters even have jobs?

Single parent has way more communication with child’s teacher than is normal; leads to dating; administration somehow has no problem with this.

“I know I could never afford this mansion, but it’s OK I inherited it.  No, paying property taxes isn’t difficult on my salary.  I don’t even know how much the place is worth.  Are property taxes a thing?”

There are two levels of cooking skills:  gourmet food every time no recipe, and sets pot of boiling water on fire somehow.  No one is ever in between these two skill sets.  People on each level always end up dating each other.

Despite the gourmet meals described needing like seven pots to cook, no one ever does dishes.

Character shares a bottle of wine with their date (2 and half glasses each), and they both get falling-down drunk.

Later, one of them drinks an entire bottle of whiskey by themselves and does not die.

At 18, everyone receive a superpower. Your childhood friend got a power-absorption, your best friends got time control, and they quickly rise into top 100 most powerful superheroes. You got a mediocre superpower, but somehow got into the top 10. Today they visit you asking how you did it.

Marinette, well - she isn’t surprised when no one deigns to sit at a table near her. Her friends aren’t in this class, and everyone else probably thinks that she’s too shy to be of much use anyways. She waits until everyone’s filtered into groups around the black metal tables, and then she takes a seat at the remaining one that seems to be reserved for her: the table of the mismatched. There’s a girl with flaming red hair, Alya, who she helped with math last year, a boy with a beanie pulled low over his head, Nathaniel, and another girl in with sad eyes, Rose.

She keeps her head down until the teacher finishes introducing the classwork, and she immediately volunteers to get the tool suitcase. Just as she’s lugging the huge yellow and black box back to the table, she realizes that someone has tapped her on the shoulder.

“Yeah?” She turns her head to where Alya’s standing right behind her. “Oh hey, Alya. How are you?”

“Good,” her classmate returns. The girl’s eyes crinkle as she smiles a bit. “But do you know what would make it better?”

“What?” Marinette’s always enjoyed Alya’s playful attitude.

“If we went to the movies together.”

“That would be great!” Marinette hid her confusion behind a smile. She and Alya weren’t close, and this seemed like the type of thing close friends would do. The thing Alya and her best friend, Colette, would do. “Is Colette coming? I know you guys do everything together.”

For some odd reason, Alya’s smile dimmed. “Yeah. Yeah, definitely. We’ll definitely need to hash out the details later, but what do you think we should go for?”

Marinette shrugged. “I’ve seen a couple of trailers recently, but I’m not sure what’s good. You?”

“The new superhero movie that’s coming out is the best. We’ve got to go.”

“Sounds good. Can you message me the details?”

“Yeah, I’ll add you to the group chat.”

Later, when she asks Colette about the movie thing in math class, Colette shrugs. “Alya just likes watching movies lots of times. Especially superhero ones.”

Awesome. Marinette had thought it seemed rather like a date at first, but that’s just crazy. No one’s ever had a crush on her. Well, maybe someone will in college.

The outing was fun, she got invited to more, and soon Marinette found herself being absorbed into Alya’s group of friends. It’s not until much, much later that Marinette learns Alya had actually been asking her out on a date that day.

In hindsight, that would certainly explain why Alya and her friends never saw the same movie twice.

Different Ways Characters Can Show Love

Part of the stigma around romance in fiction is how it can feel cut-and-paste when poorly written. Romance is so much more than ‘potential couple goes through struggles together’, it should be shaped by each character’s personality and backstory. Different characters are going to show love differently, and its often tied into how they were raised as children, and those difference can cause issues in relationships (even if it’s a situation where there is no real fault). A young man accustomed to getting small gifts from his mother might feel like his partner doesn’t love him if they don’t give small gifts, or a woman raised in a house where actions speak louder than words may find her partner’s constant “I love you”s to feel fake unless they back it up with more.

I’ve found general types of confirmation of feeling and have noted a few kinds of characters where they are most likely to appear.
