I got an @obiquinbingo around when they first started and then just... never did any of the fills lmao. But now I'm getting back into Star Wars and finally finished some of those old fics <3

As Obi-Wan surveyed the room he and Quinlan managed to rent for the night, he fiddled with his braid – a nervous tell he desperately needed to rid himself of. The dim star that hung ever present in the sky barely lit the small but tidy room. A single bed was pushed against the wall.

It could probably fit two people if they tried, but he wasn’t particularly eager to. Mostly it was because he was afraid of jostling Quinlan’s injury, but also… an odd anxiety was growing within him.

"You take the bed, I'll take first watch," he offered as he turned to give his fellow Padawan a tired smile. 

Quinlan shook his head, the locs that had fallen loose from his hair tie bouncing off his chin with the force of it. 

“You’re just as tired as I am,” he insisted, “and we should be safe enough here. The Force will look after us for a few hours.” 

“Then I’ll meditate. You’re the one who was thrown around, and that way I can still keep an eye out in the Force for any problems,” Obi-Wan said, looking away from him as his face heated uncomfortably. “Just in case. I’ll be fine.”

Maybe it was the guilt making him feel this way, he wasn’t sure. Something in him was screaming to not get into that bed with Quinlan. He moved towards the chair tucked into the corner in hopes it might have a cushion he could move to the floor. Admittedly though, he couldn't actually tell if it had padding at all in low light.

“Don’t be stupid, Kenobi. You that afraid of sharing a bed with me?” Quinlan scoffed with a roll of his eyes. He grabbed Obi-Wan's wrist, stopping him in his tracks.

Obi-Wan stole a glance at him, unsure if it would be weirder to stay turned away or to look at him. A smirk was crawling across the Kiffar's face, dimmed as it was by the teen's exhaustion.  Quinlan’s gloves rubbed against the skin of his inner arm, and it was all he could do to not yank it away.

“I just don’t think there will be enough space with your injury,” he said finally. “Not to mention with the way you toss and turn, I’d get a more restful sleep on the ground.” 

The Force pinged with the half truth and he knew that Quinlan had caught it. It was the only answer he could come up with that spoke to this feeling of unease. The only answer he was willing to admit to.

“It’ll be fine for a few hours. We should be able to fit if at least one of us sleeps on our side. Besides, then you can keep an extra close eye on me, doc.” Quinlan wiggled his eyebrows at him.

Obi-Wan felt the heat in his face start to rise again, but he willed it away with a roll of his eyes. He was honestly too tired to keep arguing the point, uneasy or not.

"Fine, but you're the one sleeping on your back. Otherwise I think you may accidentally suffocate me in my sleep." 

“Hah, kinky,” Quinlan wheezed out a laugh, reaching for his side in an aborted movement.

Worry seized in Obi-Wan's stomach, strong enough that Quinlan seemed to feel it through his shielding. His Force presence, tinged with mild pain, brushed against the spiky worry.

Selfishly, Obi-Wan let himself be soothed.

“Lay down first; I’ll crawl on from the end once you’ve situated yourself,” he said after a moment.

Quinlan didn't argue any further, radiating satisfaction from getting his way, and let himself fall onto the bed with a pained 'oomf'. Obi-Wan reached out as if to help in some way but was waved off. Once Quinlan was situated as comfortable as he could make himself, he reached up to tug his hair tie free from the few locs it still pulled back. 

Only then did Obi-Wan feel ready to risk laying on the bed himself. The two of them – nearly grown by the standards of their species – were pushing the limit of what the bed could handle, but they both managed to achieve some semblance of comfort. Heart racing frantically, he forced himself to relax.

Quinlan turned that tired smirk back onto him again. “See? Was that so difficult?”

“Ask me again after we’ve actually slept.”

“Always a critic…”

“I am not!”

Quinlan didn’t bother responding. Instead, he just laughed and laughed at the indignant expression that was surely on Obi-Wan’s face. Obi-Wan huffed and let his head fall into the crook of his arm, warm with the sound of his friend’s amusement. Exhaustion was quickly overtaking them both now that they were no longer standing.

It didn’t take long for Quinlan to drift off into sleep, a small grin still on his face. Finally safe. Finally able to slow down.

Rest didn’t come as easily for Obi-Wan.

He felt warm, unreasonably warm, and not just from the heat Quinlan was radiating. Weary to the bone, and yet sleep didn’t come for hours. Some part of it might've been the worry that plagued him all night, the need he felt to keep watch while Quinlan rested his injury.

That wasn’t all of it. He knew it wasn’t.

Something still felt off – with him, with the situation. Something he couldn’t parse out or maybe didn’t want to parse out. 

(Something that was tickling in the back of his head, in his chest, in his stomach.)

This was far from the first time they had shared a bed – they’d done it multiple times during the Stark Space War, and even once or twice on more recent missions. Sharing beds in general was common for initiates (though Quinlan largely grew up away from the Temple) when they needed the touch and comfort that was key for growing up healthy.

Being in bed with Quinlan was nothing new.

So why did it feel like something was different?

Obi-Wan huffed, pressing his back against the wall so he could get a better view of the room. Quinlan shifted in response, murmuring quietly before settling with his face turned towards him.

His hair was spread out around him like a halo, like in Nabooian stained glass portraits. He looked surprisingly relaxed for all that he was stuck sleeping on his back with a cracked rib. 

Obi-Wan wanted to laugh at the way his mouth was hanging open like a youngling, a single loc dangerously close to falling inside. He reached out and delicately brushed it from Quinlan's face, careful not to wake him.

With warm cheeks, Obi-Wan snatched his hand back as if he’d been burned.

What the kriff was he doing?

Quinlan was his best friend, outside of Bant. Quinlan might be his best friend, period, actually. Regardless, tender was not an emotion he would ascribe to their relationship.

And yet…

His chest felt bruised, looking at him. Like he was the one who had cracked a rib. There was so much he already knew about Quinlan – how he looked when he was mad, when he was sad, when he was showing off, when he was euphoric over a grift gone right – and yet he longed to know more. 

Longed to know what he looked like when blissfully happy.

Longed to know what it felt like to kiss him. 

Obi-Wan dropped down to hide his face in his arms again. Unwilling to face the truth he had been ignoring this entire mission. From maybe even before this mission. If he had it his way he would keep ignoring it, keep repressing it (something his lineage was great at), but faced with this familiar closeness… Well, he was only human. 

He had a crush on his best friend. 

Which meant he was truly and utterly karked. 

Sleep was further from reach than ever.

Saving Bingo

Happy weekend, y'all.

So, I made an announcement last week about Bingo(s) shuttering for some reasons. I really appreciate the love that I've gotten as a response. I launched the Bingo(s) as a way to get people creating just for the joy of creating and I'm touched that people really vibed with that.

Along with some of the love came an offer of support. I don't want to talk about the project the offer came with just yet, or the time frame, so I don't put pressure on the person. I'm so excited and floored at the same time. I can't wait because it means Bingo(s) can stay open and y'all can keep creating.

I'll continue creating cards for you as we go. Please be patient with me for any lag.

Bingo Closure

Hello everyone!

Karma here (obviously, there’s no one else here). I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who’s played Bingo. I’ve created a lot of cards for a lot of pairings and seen a lot of wonderful works created. But interest seems to be waning and so, like all good things, Bingo must too come to an end.

We’ve had a good run — two years!! — and so many wonderful people have pitched in to help (officially or unofficially). Bingo has evolved and become something more than I ever imagined when I rather stubbornly brought it back with the rules I remember from the days of yore (aka, LiveJournal). I know they confused some people (especially when there were other Bingo events being run) but I appreciate everyone who went along with my madness.

So, thank you to everyone who played and made the event(s) successful over the past two years. Here’s to you, more than me.

Bingo will officially close on June 1, 2024, to allow for anyone who’d still like to request a last Bingo card. Remember, cards were only ever there to help you create and the spirit of Bingo totally lives on.

There is 1 bingo request form for all bingos

All themes are available for request at any point in time

You can request a new bingo card every 2 months, no questions asked

If you don't like your initial card, writers get 1 chance to regenerate, non-writers get 2 chances to regenerate

Bingo Announcement

Hello all my wonderful Bingo Players!

It’s Karma here. I hope everyone has had an enjoyable spring, now that we’re almost into summer. I know where I am that we’re finally starting to get some nice “open the windows” weather, which is spoiling the cat. 

I know we have Bingo theme changeover in a month, but I wanted to make an announcement beforehand.

Bingo is going on Hiatus as of June 1, 2023.

I’ve loved running Bingos and it’s been amazing, but largely it’s been a one-person operation. I’ve recently gotten some help, which has been AMAZING (huge thank you, Kaje), but it’s still been a lot. And there’s been the other events I run as well, because I’m a bit of an overachiever, and then there’s my real life work (IYKYK). All this to say that I’ve hit burnout pretty hard, and that’s totally on me. I’ve loved running these events for you guys and I will continue to run them! I just need a little bit of a break.

Bingo will return in 2024.

When it returns:

New Rules

New Cards (maybe new format? Idk, will think on this)

Sign-ups will be wiped (so if you previously signed up, we’re treating it like you are brand new to the event)

Other things I can’t think of off the top of my head

Basically, we’re hitting the big reset button on January 2024 and will have a brand new Bingo! 

If you want to continue working on your cards in the meantime, please, feel free to. We’ll reblog it as we see it. It might not be instant but we’ll try to keep on top of the reblogs. AO3 Collections will remain open, so please continue to add your wonderful creations to the Collection so everyone else can locate and enjoy them.

I seriously appreciate everyone who has participated in this year-long event with me. It was a lot of fun and I’ve loved seeing everyone be so creative. I hope when I come back that we’ll have some more wonderful times together.

Amnesty Bingo Cards

Hello!

Mod Karma here. It’s been almost a year since we started the Bingo Project(s), can you guys believe it?! We’ve come a long way since the early days.

One thing I wanted to do was to offer everyone who’s had their cards for at least 2 rounds (6 months) an Amnesty card. Basically what this means is that if you’ve had your card for 6 months that you can request a new card.

I go into more specifics about Amnesty Cards here.

FAQs have also been updated (and condensed) and our Rules are also more coherent (I hope). Both are on Google Docs instead of Tumblr, for ease of updating if something needs to be addressed. We will always announce any rule changes on Tumblr.

If you have any questions, let us know! Amnesty Cards are now open to be requested!

Bingo Round 3: Spring Edition

March!

Spring is here! (Debatable.) Everyone is getting ready to dye rivers green, break out the green beer, and get their shamrock on. Everyone knows how much Americans love to pretend they’re Irish this month. And then we have April and May, with their rain and flowers, with Beltane and Ostara, Easter and May Day. Candy for everyone! Fertility rites! 

Lots of interesting things happening in the next three months as we open our next round of Bingo cards.

Rules got an update, so please look those over (they’re also going out with every Bingo card). They’ll continue to get a sprucing up, same with the FAQs, over the next few months. We’ll have been around a full year come June! Some of you have had your cards a full year without a Bingo and us mods are discussing how to keep the event fresh and active for everyone. So look for an announcement in April, probably.

As a reminder, we are an open-ended event, where the themes rotate every 3 months. We’re a fun, low-pressure, low-stress event where you can focus on getting your creative on.

Rule Update + Housekeeping

Hullo, everyone. Karma mod here. Just wanted to let you know that the Event Rules page has been updated (for all the events). Hopefully it will make things more clear going forward (for all the events).

QuinObi Bingo: Winter Edition

Ah, December.

Aesthetically, a lovely month. A lovely season, winter. In reality, full of gross, slushy, ickiness. But we’re all about the aesthetic here in Bingo-land! We’re all about that cozy, hot cocoa, snow falling gently around you while you fall in love, ice skating and feeling like you can fly magic-ness of the winter months! (Even if mod Karma absolutely loathes the cold. Brrr.)

Since the mash-up themes were such a success last round, we’re going to keep on keeping on with them. Please continue to enjoy our wonderful themes! However, a quick note about our general mash-up theme for Round 3: The special theme (song lyrics) is a 4x4 card. So if you do a mash-up, you’ll be getting a 4x4 card. Karma tried, folks, the boards just didn’t align.

Some Round 3 housekeeping:

If you participated in Round 1 or Round 2, you cannot request a bingo card for Round 3 until you complete a Bingo for Round 1 or 2. If you sign up, and we don’t have a confirmed Bingo for you, you’ll get an email from us asking you to submit proof of Bingo (links to fills).

ONE fill per prompt, unless otherwise approved by a mod.

You cannot request multiple themes for the same pairing. 1 card until you hit Bingo.

Card themes are set. You can’t do an angst fic if your card theme is fluff (but hurt/comfort is totally acceptable). 

Free Spaces are still a fill! They just mean you get to choose whatever prompt you want, so long as it matches your card theme.

As a reminder, we are an open-ended event, where the themes rotate every 3 months. We’re a fun, low-pressure, low-stress event where you can focus on getting your creative on. Please read the event FAQs! And the extra FAQs! Also, as a reminder, our rules are really simple.
