update : I sent him an email to invite him to come have a drink with everyone after my defense is over and he said he’d come
so this thing is really happening huh
my fave teacher from when I was an undergrad caught up w/ me in the corridor today to tell me he’s seen that I was defending my phd thesis next week and wish me good luck
this man is probably 75 and is a real life dumbledore I stg, he helped me pick my classes when I got here 8 years ago, we don’t run into each other a lot but he always remembers who I am even though he has literally known thousands of students
long story short I had to try really hard not to start crying in his arms
