I drew a hollowghast based on their descriptions in the books a while ago. Idk if this helps but I hope so.

Is anyone else really confused about what hollows look like? Because in the first book we get the drawing of a hollow and it seems human-like just with tentacles coming from its mouth, and somewhere in Hollow City it talks about one’s human limbs flailing around because it was moving with its tongues—or something, but in Library of Souls Jacob decides the ones he had controlled (I think that’s what the context was, at least) would be referred to as “he,” so it hints that their bodies clearly don’t resemble that of a human because their sex isn’t clear, no parts indicating as much and I’d assume they don’t wear clothes, so it’s not like they’d be covered up. Again, in Library of Souls, in the picture at the beginning of the book explaining what a hollowgast is, the shadow is rounded and honestly kind of looks like a gumball machine. And then of course we have the movies interpretation of them, which looks like a slender-man that walks on four legs, but I can’t help but think that Ransom contributed to the movie’s version, meaning there could be some truth behind its design.

THAT’S WILD! I’ve never heard of it raining ants anywhere! Also, I have an idea for you to consider for Elise. Have you heard of the Gossamer Winged Butterfly. As caterpillars, they mimic the sounds and pheromones of ants in order to make the ants follow them and protect them with their lives.

I think it would be cool if this peculiar could do that and maybe had some butterfly traits. It’s up to you but now I want to draw that lol.

Today it rained ants (literally) and that gave me an idea of a peculiarity like Hugh's, soon you will meet Elise, a girl whose power is to have thousands of ants living in her stomach.

This type of ant (which unfortunately is harmless and its bite only hurts but has no venom) and other smaller species live inside the Elise.

The idea for Elise's peculiarity comes from a saying used to threaten whistleblowers: "People who talk too much wake up with their mouths full of ants." And also because these ants are edible and considered a delicacy since they don't fall from the sky every day. Having an anthill inside Elise seemed like a fun idea and a food reserve in a way.

In case you're worried about the ant, I just took a few pictures of it for reference and released it on a lawn. I don't even like eating meat, let alone fried ants.

I think it would depend on how long it takes to get them out of the past. If you’re able to get to another loop before the past would conceivably reset itself (probably 24 hours), then maybe it would work.

Unless part of the past correcting itself means the person removed from the outer past just auto-deletes after 24 hours.

My only solution to that would be a loop collapse that resets their internal clocks. That way they’re officially part of the present.

Imagine if the children were visiting loops and whatnot and some of them see their younger selves

So in the MPHfPC book it says that peculiarities often skip many generations but in HP, there are pure blood families. In HP, muggle-born witches and wizards are looked down upon and often not allowed in the same spaces as purebloods. I was thinking that this could be a reason why Ymbrynes started making loops for peculiar children. In the Tales of the Peculiar, it mentions that there was a Council of Important Peculiars before there was an Ymbryne Council. Perhaps, that could be the precursor the HP Ministry of Magic. The Ymbryne council could be the more inclusive governing body. They govern the muggle-born peculiars.

In the HP series, wands are used to channel and enhance magic. In MPHfPC, Mother Dust tells Jacob and Emma (through Reynaldo) that peculiarities are not inherently specific. Emma’s fire could’ve been water or air but it wasn’t for some reason. My thought would be that a wand can help peculiars broaden what they can do. Emma, for example, would be able to make lighting and light with her wand more easily that Horace with his prophetic dreams. I feel like eventually peculiars who are good with their wand could do a number of different kinds of magic that are very different from their original peculiarity but their predisposition would be to their peculiarity that first developed.

I was thinking that Hogwarts and Hosmeade would be a very large permaloop created by Rowena Ravenclaw herself. Her last name contains a bird so it makes sense in my mind that she would be an Ymbryne. I think it would be a funny history tidbit for her to discover her bird form was actually an eagle (the book mascot of Ravenclaw) and be very confused.

I was thinking that the reason such a huge loop was able to be created and made into a perma-loop would be because Rowena Ravenclaw specialized in Ymbryne wand magic. I think it would also make for an interesting side plot if the specific wand magic she used has been lost to history which is why modern Ymbrynes can’t do it.

In Wizarding history, the Hogwarts express was created long after Hogwarts and also long after Rowena herself died. However, Platform 9 3/4 seems very loop like to me so I was thinking of making another loop type. I call it a connection loop. It’s a very long loop (not circular like most loops). It has two points of entrance/exit. This makes sense in my mind.

I was also thinking that in recent generations, muggle horns have been allowed at Hogwarts (ex: Lily (Evans) Potter, Hermione Granger). I think it would make some sense if not all peculiars in loops knew about this or if they did, they were too afraid to travel through the present to get to present day King’s Cross Station which is why Miss Peregrine’s loop still exists. I think it would be interesting to see peculiar kids attending Hogwarts who have lived in loops for 50+ years and peculiar kids who just found out they were peculiar a few months ago and have lived relatively normal lives. I want to see their interactions.

I think it would be cool if they had a cartography class at Hogwarts. Perhaps they could have a Map of Days in the library at Hogwarts (maybe in the Restricted Section). Maybe students could learn about some loops in the regular library but the punishment loops were in the Restricted Section.

I also think Harry should be a light eater because he’s “the chosen one”. I think it would be interesting to draw connections to the Prophecy of the 7 and Sybil’s prophecy about Harry Potter. I think the seven light-eaters could be Harry Potter, Neville Longbottom, Noor Pradesh, Julius Purcell, Sebbie Mayfirld, and two others. I’m aware there were other light-eaters in the MPHfPC books who died but I think this makes more sense. I was also thinking it might make sense if they were all born at the end of July like Harry and Neville. Perhaps Julius could go to Beauxbattons because he’s posh.

I also wrote out a really long history that is the combination of the two worlds but there’s no way that would fit here. I could make a pt 2 with more random stuff about this crossover if you want.

I see you like MPHfPC, Harry Potter, and the Marauders!! I do as well! I’ve been trying to write a fanfic that is the combination of them. Trying to mis the peculiar world with the wizarding world was very difficult but I think I did it. I just have no idea what the plot would be. If you are interested, would you like me to tell y or about it?? The merging of the two worlds is my current hyperfixation and has been for maybe half a year

SO I FORCED MY MOM TO READ THE ENTIRE SERIES AND WE READ BOTH TRILOGIES AND WERE LIKE HALFWAY THROUGH THE TALES OF THE PECULIAR AND I HAVE A HYPOTHESIS!!

So in the story about the girl who could take nightmares, Lavinia, her peculiarity reminds me of Jacob’s. Mother Dust (through Reynaldo) said that Jacob’s ability to speak with hollows isn’t his inherent peculiarity, just as fire isn’t Emma’s.

Mother Dust told Jacob he’s a “reader of souls”. What part of our life shows us our soul’s inner workings than the strange nonsense our subconscious puts into dreams!

In the TotP, it says that no one could see the nightmare threads until Lavinia pulled them out. Also, as soon as she released them again to go bother that one kid, no one could see them! That reminds me a lot of Jacob and the soul jars!

They’re invisible and intangible to everyone else! He can hold them and the one wight was able to feel the jar while he was holding it but as soon as it left Jacob’s hands, the wight’s hand closed around nothing and the jar shattered.

Also the fact that Lavinia can make herself understood by the nightmare thread ball sounds like Jacob speaking to hollows.

Am I going crazy or does this make sense?

I just had a thought that u think makes sense. If the peculiar has enough sentience to understand that they’re peculiar, then the chances of them producing peculiar offspring is slim. If the peculiar doesn’t have the sentience to understand that it is peculiar (like a plant), it would default to producing peculiar offspring.

Idk if this makes sense. I just woke up and had this idea. There’s every possibility I’m just jet-lagged and sleep-deprived.

Basically, Jacob’s dad had one sibling, Jacob’s Aunt Suzie. There wasn’t much mentioned about her.

Abraham Ezra Portman had older brothers but they were killed by N@zi’s in the war as mentioned in the first book.

Jacob’s mom, Maryanne Portman had 3 brothers. Their family (Uncle Bobby, Uncle Les, Uncle Jack and ofc Maryanne) owns Smart Aid.

In the first book, Jacob mentions that when uncle Bobby “inevitably” succumbs to a heart attack, he’ll leave everything to his “pot-head cousins” and Bobby’s “tiny wife”

This is what I wondered about lgihteaters. If Noor can remove the soul from Caul and turn it into regular light, surely a more experienced light eater could take regular light out b of the air and put it into a normal as a peculiar soul

What would happen if someone put a peculiar soul into a non-peculiar? And I don’t mean them drinking it, but transplanting it in their foot 🤔 I’m betting nothing good.

In Hollow City, Jacob says he never remembers the pleasant dreams but in the first book, he describes the dream he had his first day on the island. He dreamt about his grandfather arriving there for the first time. It was bittersweet so I guess it’s half true.

His dad wanted a really large elaborate kitchen cause he had seen it in a design magazine and promised to learn to cook then throw legendary dinner parties for the family but he never got around to it. (Map of Days)

He’s good at English (school subject). He was good enough that he was able to use it to bribe Ricky to defend him. The deal was that he helped Ricky not fail English and Ricky helped him “not get killed by the roided out sociopaths who prowled the halls of (their) school”. (MPHfPC)
