Aim to: 🍒 Eat 3 meals & 2 snacks everyday 🍒 Eat breakfast everyday, within an hour of rising 🍒 Eat a combination of lean protein, good carbs & healthy fats at every meal 🍒 Drink lots of water throughout the day 🍒 Eat as many vegetables as you want and 2-3 fruits a day 🍒 Have proper portion sizes 🍒 Enjoy dark chocolate & red wine occasionally : )
Limit the amount of:  🍬 Processed foods (particularly sugar & white flour) 🍬 Foods containing preservatives, artificial sugars, flavours & colours 🍬 Artificial foods such as processed cheese 🍬 Saturated & trans fats 🍬 Sugar loaded beverages including colas & juices 🍬 Energy dense foods (high calorie counts, with little nutrients) 🍸 Alcohol ~ All in moderation! Moderation is key!

Easy Meal Idea for the Day: ✨Rice Noodle Stir Fry✨

My dinner tonight. I marinated tofu in a little miso paste, lemon juice, soy sauce, BBQ sauce & nutritional yeast. Fried onion, garlic, ginger & mushrooms. Steamed frozen stir fry veggies & chopped Bok Choy.  Then added everything together with the rice noodles & some more soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce & oyster sauce.. Quick, easy, juicy, sweet & spicy! I'm loving these rice noodles that I found in the International (Asian) section in the supermarket. Tip: Instead of using tofu, throw in some edamame beans for an alternative source of protein

Nutrition Q of the Day: ✨What is High Fructose Corn Syrup & Trans Fats?✨

HFCS is a cheap, artificial sweetener found mostly in soft drinks & processed foods. Although the name may sound like it is "natural" (containing fructose & corn), it has been found to be very damaging to our health as it is behaves differently in the body than fructose consumed from fruit. Trans fats on the other hand are found in many foods such as fried foods, commercially baked products & processed foods like doughnuts, crackers, cookies, cakes, microwave popcorn, frozen meals & many more foods! Trans fats act like saturated fat, raising bad cholesterol levels. But they are actually more damaging to your health because they ALSO lower good cholesterol and where NO AMOUNT is safe to consume. So try to avoid these ingredients!

Nutrition Q of the Day: ✨How do I plan a healthy meal?✨

  Rather than counting calories, use these general guidelines for planning your meals 🍴 1/2 of your plate should come from vegetables (& fruit), 1/4 of your plate should be complex carbohydrates and the other 1/4 from protein sources (lean meats, legumes etc) 🍴 Also include a small portion of healthy fats (ie. avocado, nuts & seeds etc.)🍴 Portion Control! Have a fist full of complex carbs, your protein source should be the size & thickness of the palm of your hand and for healthy fats & oils, use the tip of your thumb as a general guideline of how much to use 🍴 For snacks, include a small amount of carbs (with fibre), protein & fat to keep to satisfied until your next meal and in which will prevent oversnacking.
