This is so true! While we think everything was sunshine and roses between Abhimanyu and Uttaraa, these verses are something that puts me through a layer of dubiousness regarding the bond they shared 🫠
Uttara's Diary
U T T A R A ' S. D I A R Y
As the war approached, hope was the last thing I could latch onto. Everything felt like a dissolution - conches were like the shrill cry of a grieving mother, the clash of blades was a reminder of what's to be lost, and the galloping horses were like happiness and hope snatched away as the world chose between dharma and adharma.
As if hope didn't exist, fate snatched my husband from me - cruel and fateful, they called it. Whispers of soldiers and elders had numbed me like no other - he was alone when he fought seven other Maharathis, they said - it pained my heart to lose him, not because I loved him but because my child would never know the love of a father.
Truth be told, I don't know why I grieve the man I called my husband till a few moments ago- I want to die and move along with him. What if he finds love elsewhere - would I be forgotten?
Legacy is fickle.
Womanhood is painful.
And expectations -
Expectations were the root of heartache.
My marriage was strange, my father first proposed me as an alliance to Gurumaa Brihannala (it's weird how I can still not call him my father-in-law Kaunteya Arjuna; he's still the teacher who taught me the tender balance between an artist and a warrior); Gurumaa being ever graceful rejected the alliance calling me his daughter and instead proposed that if the alliance had to be carried forward, then they could go ahead with it if my father agrees for the marriage between his son Abhimanyu and me.
My father agreed in an instant; no questions or opinions were asked.
I was simply informed that Samryagni Krishnaa, now revealed to me as Malini Maa, braided my hair as always.
I remember my mother enthusiastically planning the wedding as the war loomed.
It feels like aeons ago when the palace of Matsya Desha bustled with guests from around the world who forged alliances in the guise of a wedding celebration.
I was perhaps like a coy bride who stole glances at her husband between the rituals while he was perhaps unbothered.
Was that the first sign that he didn't see our marriage beyond politics?
Was I expecting too much?
The giddiness never left me. On one end, I was happy to be around my favourite people-Gurumaa Brihannala, Malini Maa, and Vallabha. On the other hand, I spiralled into a world that denied me the happiness of a marriage I built my world around.
------------------ The above is an excerpt from my book Aparachita Rajakanya on Wattpad.
Aparachita Rajakanya follows the story of Amrita Bharadwaj, the descendant of Pandava Arjuna and Dronacharya, who must encounter the twist of time and fate when the ages of Dwapara and Kali converge during a series of mystical events. It's a reimagination of the Mahabharata in a fantastical world and alternate universe.
Also, here's the snippet that inspired the diary entry.
"Despite seeing you slain in the battle, I am still alive. O tiger among men! You have gone to the world of the ancestors. In a gentle and smiling voice, which beautiful one will you greet there, as if she were I? In heaven, there is no doubt that you will crush the hearts of the apsaras, with your great beauty and your smiling words. O Subhadra's son! When you attain those auspicious worlds and meet the apsaras and spend time in pleasure with them, remember the good deeds that I did. O brave one! You were destined to spend only six months of your life with me.73 In the seventh month, you have confronted your death.' As she is speaking these miserable and pointless words, the women of the Matsya king's74 lineage are pulling Uttara away."
Mahabharata, Vol. 8 ( BORI CE translation by Bibek Debroy), Stri Parva.

Genuine question: do you think same gender love was a thing during mahabharat times? (I'm writing a fic plz forgive me)
No it isn't, given that the same genders FEEL for each other romantically. There are mentions of same gender sex in Kamasutra, so you can go ahead with your fiction ( given that they're truly committed to their feelings or actually are inclined to same gender)

I don't know why but people just hate DHRISHTADYUMN and Panchalas for no reason at all. Like seriously, what did they even do to deserve such false narratives and hatred?
The narratives are so foolish that they don't even make sense from any angle-
THEY LEGIT HATE DHRISHTADYUMN BECAUSE THEY APPARENTLY "THINK" THAT HE DID NOT TAKE CARE OF UPAPANDVAS WELL AND SUBHADRA DID IT ON HIS BEHALF-
I am like seriously? In the Vanvas Parva Krishna mentions how the Upapandvas stay with Dhrishtadyumn and they frequently come to visit Dvaraka to learn weapons under Pradyuman, and meanwhile is taken care of by Rukmini and Subhadra- he kinda jokes and tells how Upandavas love Dvaraka more than Panchala-
And they literally took this JOKE to defame the Panchalas?! Seriously?!
And so much offended because Dhrishtadyumn also took care of Upapandvas? Like why? Isn't he the legal heir to take care of Draupadi's kids?
For God's sake, Dhrishtadyumn was also an indirect guardian of Draupadi! Drupad himself asks Yudhishthir to talk with Dhrishtadyumn and take the decision of marrying Draupadi (in the Vaivahika Parva when he was confused with the proposal of Yudhishthir)
The entire Panchalas fought and died alongside the Pandava army, and the rest were murdered brutally- and still you guys have the audacity to defame Panchalas for no freaking reason at all.
You guys go on to support the most shameful acts done by Bhishma and Drona throughout their lifetime, and then have problems with Dhrishtadyumn for no reason at all.
I am appalled and angry this time. The way they build false narratives around Panchalas is insane.

Kaun hai ye log- Error 404 not found
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Dear author,
How I wish I could say "dear" but nevermind. I hope my letter finds you in good health and good brains, oops! My bad, I had almost forgotten that 'brain' doesn't have it's existence in your big skull, for it is so empty that it can fit two Jacuzzis easily. Scientists are still marveling over this unique discovery, and it has became a worldwide news in the recent days.
Well, it has come to our recent notice that you haven't touched Mahabharata or seen the book from a distance, I really don't know which one is worse; because your piece of art is so exquisite that it cannot be comprehended nor be found reference by normal humans, showing us '404 error not found'. You have left us truly speechless with your existence. Your concepts of Mahabharat is truly alien to us, and sadly, we are unable to decode it with our recent technologies. Hence, ISRO, in the name of utmost human welfare and extreme urgency has taken a decision that you should be safely returned back to your planet named 'Empty Brains', where you once belonged to, for the population on Earth isn't ready to handle a species like you yet.
Our team is happy to inform you that Chandrayan 4 has decided to lodge you back to your native homeland, before it decides to land on the moon. We are glad and are eager to help a helpless specie like you.
We will NOT miss you, and DO NOT visit again.
Yours pseudo sincerely,

I did see but most (that I came across in entire tumblr) of them felt pretentious to me for some reason 🤧🤧🤧. Idk why in "PandavasPanchali" week peeps are busy writing about how Draupadi's bond is with her COWIVES rather than her husbands-
[ Some write ups were truly awesome btw 💖 ]

Surprised to see some people who didn't consider Ulupi as Arjun's wife suddenly praising her and her bond with Draupadi 👀
Weird 👀
Btw, if anyone has confusion, it's Kauravyanandini and not Kauravi; Kauravi is Dushala :|

Totally agreed. I agree that Krishna is all, and he doesn't mind who makes jokes on him and who doesn't. Krishna can be moulded into different forms to suite the generation, and that goes to extreme 🙂.
Remember Krishna too had taught Arjun limits of everything.
Insensitivity is insensitivity, there is no defense to it. Forget hurting sentiments, sometimes such insensitive humor really shows who you are and what you interpret of things. Even we joke, but there is a limit for everything. Not everything is supposed to be funny.
Humor is appreciated as far as it doesn't rashly come as insensitive. And please don't come with arguments on what is insensitive and what is not, for I clearly feel that the boundaries you touch are clearly so and you're well aware to know it, but won't acknowledge it.
Making jokes on topics which have an altogether deeper purpose is shallow in my opinion...
My friends and I have been discussing how Sanatana Dharma, as such, is viewed in today's society- of course, we know there are a lot of skeptics and critics who mock.
But my post is not about them, not today.
It is about those who are genuine Sanatana Dharma followers, or so their bios, posts and everything else indicate: from what little I know, I believe this to be genuinely true.
However, despite all that, the kind of insensitivity I see with regards to characters from the epics is a bit insane- especially Mahabharata characters.
And even more so, Krishna.
I rarely call people out about this, as Sanatana Dharma is largely forgiving and accepting, but I also remember that we have to call out insensitive perceptions.
And it is not even about Krishna as Bhagavan- it is about understanding Krishna the human and the things He does.
The trend across social media (all platforms) is to use fictional dramatics on Krishna, and superimpose Krishna with those kind of fictional humans, without understanding Krishna, the human.
Yes, Krishna as the human is intriguing.
But to write Him as human, one does NOT need to use the randomest of TROPES and anything and everything. Krishna is not a fictional character, He is historical other than being the endless Divine.
I know everyone will say: It is our wish to write Him and represent Him as we want.
Sure, freedom of expression and all that, but is it right to take the One who is as human as He is Bhagavan, whose actions are clearly explained, and make INSENSITIVE jokes?
Well meaning jokes is common, but insensitivity? It is unfair to be insensitive about fictional characters only, let alone ACTUAL HISTORICAL CHARACTERS.
At least making jokes with care is okay, but to be insensitive to someone's actions and make it something grossly untrue? THAT IS A BIG NO.
Not with historical characters.
I don't even think it is all that fair with fictional characters, so there is that.
It is time we take action, and think before we post- is this what Krishna really did? Was this His meaning, even as a human?
This is not about Him being Paramatma as much as it is about Him being thought of as a character, as a human, and as the complete Purusha.
Krishna loves everyone, but should we not channel our love for Him to ensure that even jokes we make are respectful?

Who do you think Arjun loved more? Draupadi or Subhadra?
I think this one paragraph from BORI CE is enough to answer all doubts:
Bibhatsu, the scorcher of enemies, was thus by his maternal uncle. He was cheerless and distressed in his mind and replied to Vasudeva, “O maternal uncle! O lord! Without the foremost among the Vrishnis and the Madhus, I am incapable of looking at the earth for a long period of time. The king, 38 Bhimasena, Pandava Sahadeva, Nakula and Yajnaseni as the sixth, hold the same kind of view. It is certain that the time has also come for the king to depart.
{ Mausala Parva, BORI CE } You can lowkey compare it with a phrase from Valmiki Ramayan where Raam says how he doesn't want heaven without Sita. Baaki to aap log ho hi samajhdaar :)

Before someone tries to label Draupadi arrogant and egoistic, read this for once:-
d, ‘Having uttered these words, the soft-spoken, Krishna wept and covered her face in her hands, soft as the bud of a lotus. On her upraised, full and well-formed breasts, marked with all the auspicious marks, Panchali showered teardrops of grief. She wiped her eyes and sighed repeatedly.
💔💔💔💔kaise dil nahi tootega? And peeps have the audacity to label her like what not-

Can you elaborate on your opinion about brc draupadi?
I haven't seen all the episodes of BR Chopra, but definitely a majority scenes containing Draupadi, yes.
The thing is BRC Draupadi is nowhere, NOWHERE close to the original Draupadi in terms of character portrayal. She's been trivialized a lot with dialogues like "Andhe ka putra andha" and all that. Her entire demeanour seemed very egoistic to me, maybe sparing the scenes of Vastraharan and few scenes from the Vanvas part. The innate kindness seemed missing, it came out as forced. The counter responses of Draupadi were weird because even the Pandavas were sketched weirdly (specially Yudhishthir). So you can't just pinpoint like Draupadi. Draupadi was sketched like that because the Pandavas were sketched so.

Idk if you are on quora but the amount of hate i see on Hanumanji makes me want to cry at times. Do you know why people are hating so much on Hanumanji?
I am not on Quora but Hanuman ji? Why even?!
He was the greatest of scholars to exist in the two Yugas!
I really have no idea why people are doing that. . . Will have to see someday.
