Meet my co-curator, Annaliisa Benston (@famousonmars) creative producer at #satelliteartfair. The ethos of this Womxns day project is something near and dear to AnnaLiisa’s own personal work and curatorial practice, Famous On Mars, which has a strong emphasis on the future of how artwork is experienced through live activations, social media outlets, and intersectional feminism.

NTRFACE PROFILES | SILVERIO CASTILLO
Silverio Castillo was born and raised in New York City. As a first-generation American, Silverio comes from a strong breed of Latina women. Her great grandmother migrated from the Dominican Republic to the Lower East Side in 1965. She attended The Fashion Institute of Technology for her BFA. Currently, in Brooklyn, her work ranges from traditional fine art to textile and Streetwear.
Artist Statement
Silverio’s work for this show takes a critical view of the political, social, and cultural climate we are living in today. Art remains a strong contender of how we share our thoughts and ideas. In this current climate, it is important now more than ever to rally together and share the stories within the communities we are apart of. Silverio’s work is meant to empower and elevate women through text and imagery, easily blending contemporary and classical mediums. The world will not change in an instant, but through art and community, it can spread slowly into our everyday thoughts and choices.
