RSD is actually PTSD.
People with ADHD are sensitive to rejection because we spend our entire lives being constantly rejected/excluded/ostracized by every neurotypical we meet. We’re traumatized, and we are triggered by rejection because it causes us to re-live our trauma.
I read some statistic somewhere that kids with ADHD are significantly more likely than neurotypicals to have zero friends for significant chunks of their childhood if not their entire childhoods. I know I had zero friends for most of elementary school. 7th grade was a particular horror.
I think we’re doing the ADHD community a disservice by characterizing rejection sensitivity as something intrinsic to our brain chemistry. We should be looking at it as a consequence of our shared trauma from living in an abelist society.
