10) Is there an NPC who's minor or forgettable in cannon that ended up playing a huge part in your game?

hm.... i mentioned him in another ask but i think father lucian's impact had a lot more value in my game than in most. he died in a rather dramatic way, leaving the church in milivoj's care with his holy weapon through strahd's chest, the players cried, we had to take a break -- that whole ordeal was a good bad time and solidified for the party that strahd had no lengths he wouldn't go to for ireena. as for a huge part, i think escher counts as very minor part in the module, but he's a pc in the party right now entrusted to my friend geo. i can't say more on it because he's only been a part of the party for two or three sessions and they're finally interrogating him at the start of next session, but i'll gladly talk more about why and how he's there whenever our game is done with him lol :']

he didn't play a huge part but i want to give a shoutout to party druid. the nickname given to the berserker in the winery's basement. he's literally nobody in the module but he was the druid the party was most hesitant to kill because he just wanted to bro out in his own way

it is wild for its cruelty, not for its concept: the fact that leo dilisnya can reincarnate, but with an asterisk because he still can't, not really.

i made the 16/17 year old pc be a reincarnation of leo, in body but with no soul since his soul is trapped in that mirror

creator commentary: intermission

i've always liked the idea of having shorts between chapters for the small stories of barovia that are too small to dedicate a whole chapter to. i was planning on doing one for izek after the abbot's chapter, but... well, more on that in the news post with the next update, along with some ramblings about style changes that will have to happen to be able to Actually make the comic after a year lol. i want to try to get the next update out by halloween, but my commission workload is heavy -- a blessing and a curse. this was just a convenient way of answering a request on my art blog and shake a story out of my head that had been sitting in there for a while. it will, unfortunately, have to stay only on the tumblr until we get to that point in the comic where it can be slotted in due to the way the website pulls the pages from the files, but that's alright. i love my secrets, if it isn't obvious

while i'm on my dinner break, does anyone else remember those in-character ask blogs where someone would respond with art? usually jokey, always a good time? resulted in an influx of bad fanon interpretations of characters? sometimes would interact with one another? i kind of want to start one for curse of strahd or at least one of the characters, but to pull back the curtain a bit i don't have very many followers so i don't think i would get much interaction LOL. that and people don't send asks like they used to

all orders for the button and charm are being shipped today! there are only 5 buttons left, but still plenty of charms.

also, expect a newsletter this week. I've had it in my drafts since the Aug 13 update, but I have a hard time with writing. I'll find the time to sit down and get it finalized (along with something else too, if time allows it ;] )
