International security and bio-philosophy is my jam so get ready for a lecture. The use of Black Sites falls under the fascinating concept of The State of Exception (take note kids cause we all living in it). A quick crash course in Post-9/11 US politics, the declaration of the War on Terror transformed the enemy of the Sovereign (The US Government) into a vague and easily changeable threat. This flipped the ultimate power of the Sovereign to declare any human as inhuman (homo sacre super scary shit) from within a small room (the dungeon in the castle) to the nation as a whole. BLACK SITES!! Getting there finally, are the physical manifestations of this, an area in which humans are stripped down to bare numbers and characteristics and in which violence committed against them is not an abuse of human rights as they are no longer human. THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!! As we all live in the State of Exception, a state of being in which fundamental human rights and humanity is reduced on mass to biometric characteristics, and Black Sites are being expanded into our home. Where else can the Government have the right to shoot un-armed black teens, “randomly” search muslim-looking people in airports and intelligence services having the right to detain you for a period of time and then threatening you with jail time if you speak out about it! (Van Muster, the State of Exception etc.)
