do you think when edwin admitted that he didn't tell charles he was dying because he didn't want to scare him that that's the first time in way too long that someone had done something to *protect* charles? and really wasn't the entire night an act of protection, keeping him from being alone and scared?? it's no wonder charles committed himself to protecting edwin afterwards

I love this show! 💖 Awesome characters, very cool story ideas and amazing visuals 🌟 It was super enjoyable to watch, checked all my boxes for a good show, and it even inspired me to draw, after months of dread. I hope there will be a next season :3

Months ago there was someone in here who said they knew someone who worked on DBDA who told them before the official cancellation news that Warner Bros had cancelled the show before it had even aired.

I know some people have been really on the ball when it comes to contacting netflix, and we've all been using the Netflix hashtag alongside the Save/renew DBDA ones - but if that post was true... We should probably be contacting Warner Bros more than Netflix, since they seem to own the show and 'let' Netflix air it (can someone who actually understands how TV works please let me know if what I said there was in any way accurate?)

on why charles loves edwin's books; on why charles wants to be the books, more than a little bit:

well, it's the fact of what the books are to edwin. that they were his escape, when he was alive. now, they are a comfort, and a thing he shares with charles. a point of solace, familiarity, routine and foreverness. but also a place for imaginativeness and story, mysteries traced and retraced, both by himself and together with charles.

it's where his knowledge is stored, and even with all of edwin's intellect he still relies on the books; he doesn't memorize everything in them so that he'd have no need of a library, even though he could. he keeps the books on the shelves, he knows their information will be there when he needs them.

he finds comfort in displaying them and keeping them in the space that is his, because they are his.

it's about how edwin repairs books, too, really old ones, unbinds and rebinds them with careful hands, and thinks that the damaged books they find in charity shops or moth-eaten in long abandoned manor libraries are all worth saving.

it's about how the words he reads off a page hold power - over edwin and moving through edwin, who is a conduit for them.

of course charles loves how edwin loves his books.

of course he covets to be as they are to him.

of course he wishes he could be the books, more than a little bit.

I think it would be so interesting if Edwin had a "friend" in Hell. Not someone he was close to, but someone that he ran into regularly and had short frenzied conversations with. I think it would be intreguing if this man were also something absolutely terrible, like a serial killer. But he was another human, and he was in Hell, and he was someone to talk to. So Edwin cared for him, because they were both souls trapped somewhere unimaginable.
