It’s interesting how Precures “design the major merch releases before you design the characters or write the season” approach actually effects the character designs.

Like ever wondered why cure zukyoon has that pink hair highlight and cure kiss has that purple ombré despite them not being elements of their fairy designs?

And they even have a unique moment of enquiring them in their transformations? Separate from their main hair moment?

It’s because of hair chalk!

Pretty holic is selling both a cure zukyoon and cure kiss themed hair chalk. Since pretty holic is now one of the major precure releases? These would have been designed before the characters. And could’ve been a part of the design notes.

This is also likely the reason cure kiss’s hair inverts from black with pink stripes to pink with black stripes despite zukyoons hair colour remaining the same as her fairy hair.

Because hair chalk doesn’t really show up well on darker hair. It’d be false advertising.

Precure is a merch brand before it is a show. And it’s scarily good at both sides of it in ways I don’t see most brands manage.
