SANEMI AND GENYA ARE SO. 💔

it will forever be so horrid that the infinity castle happened the way it did and then,,,,,

Despite his claims, Sanemi was paying close attention to Genya. It wasn’t even just now. From the start, he noticed and tracked every small thing, the most minimal details about his brother. So he could learn about him, nurture him and raise him in a way that Genya could grow up to be someone who appreciated himself. Perhaps the habit had stuck. But even now, when they barely saw each other, the few times they did, Sanemi’s eyes latched on to the small things instead of the overall.

He noticed the way Genya lit up when Sanemi walked by. The hesitant, hopeful curve of his lips as he went to call out to him. He noticed his hair, well kept, most likely brushed out, cascading down his back. He noticed the way Genya would fidget, twisting the skin on his hands in anxiety when Sanemi snapped at him. He noticed Genya’s posture, how it relaxed around Sanemi then tensed at the harsh words thrown at him. How he held himself high around Gyomei. How he shifted from foot to foot around women. He heard the lilt in his voice, the oh so subtle yet distinct resignation when Sanemi spat at him. He could see that his words affected Genya greatly. Further than just what met the eye. It seemed that Genya tried to fix whatever it was Sanemi twisted into something bad, tried to be better. He could see the little changes he adjusted into himself so that Sanemi might, just maybe, praise him this time. The pure hope in his voice when he murmured, “Are you happy, Aniki? I’m trying to be better for you.”

It drove Sanemi insane. He hated Genya with all his being.

He loved him with every inch of his heart.

And he hated himself for that, too.
