so my apartment building got a notice board to post fire alarm tests and maintenance announcements and such. the building is pretty well-maintained, so we rarely get notices. the board is big and grey and to think it would be empty like that 99% of the time was a bland boring sin i just couldn't bear, so i vandalized the corner of its empty canvas with a teeny tiny Guy

and within a few days, there was a sudden addition from my one of my neighbors along with a Bunch of thumbtacks. this was an unexpected, but welcome surprise!

well there was still so much space, i figured i'd add another crumb to the art hoard. i'd been playing genshin that day so i drew my favorite grandpa

and like clockwork, new art manifested!! this person is gonna grow to be a great artist i know it. the detail in those stones? hell yeah that's cool.

we're two weeks into it. more neighbors have joined in with their artwork. who knew there were so many artists in my building?? we're onto somethin great here i just know it.

for the past two years i have been sponsoring a tuberculosis detection rat in tanzania, her name is carolina. she sniffs sputum samples & alerts her handlers when she detects TB. recently she turned 8 & aged out of the program, so they held a retirement party for her & sent me photos.

while carolina moves on to live a life of rest & luxury in the retirement kennels, her role is being passed on to her successor, tamasha. she is 2 years old & was named after the grandmother of one of her handlers.

"Tamasha is also quite playful! She enjoys jumping, climbing, and sometimes does a joyful little dance when placed in the TB evaluation enclosure – as if celebrating her enthusiasm for the work ahead. She’s also a big fan of avocado, her favorite treat for a job well done."

I’m not familiar with schizophrenia, I’m mildly familiar with religion, and I have no idea what the connection between either of those and organs (viscera? Mutilation? I’m not sure what to call it exactly) is.

Is there anything I could look into, to understand your pieces better in regard to that?

its a bit hard to explain but ill try !

the first one is simple, schizophrenia and religion are extremely linked at times. many schizophrenics have an intense fixation on religion.

as far as in my work, especially with gore the way i think about it is…hmm

i have a lot of intrusive thoughts. quite violent. and have since a young age. when i was little i thought it was god telling me to do these things.

i also experience tactile hallucinations, which are ones you feel. im often convinced i feel my organs inside of me, or feel my blood running thru my veins, things like that.

i have always been scared of flesh, i hate real gore, i hate medical stuff, i hate thinking about what im made of.

it scares me, so i draw it !

theres also the link between the divine and flesh. people get so wrapped up in religious figures as figures, not people. people who are flesh and blood. just like any of us ya know ? drawing them as such makes me feel more connected to them. people think i hate religion, but thats not true.

i guess tldr: i draw what im scared of, i draw my fears and my inner thoughts i cant control, i like to discuss subjects of mortality, i like to take the symbolic flesh eating and blood drinking of catholicism literally to portray a story, and i just in general enjoy drawing horror. its many things !
