i don’t mean to sound rude or mean or anything at all, but if you don’t have media literacy, if you can’t understand complex characters, arcs, topics, and relationships, this show is not for you. reducing hannibal to someone that’s just a manipulative cannibalistic psychopath, and claiming will is just his victim, it ruins absolutely every aspect of them, their relationship, and the show itself. their love IS incredibly toxic, yes, but there are so many layers to it that you have to be able to understand -and honestly sort of admire- if you even want to enjoy the show as a whole. i see way too many people make really black and white statement about them and their relationship, and while we are entitled to opinions, it’s just obvious to me that these are people that either just don’t get it, or don’t like it. which is fine! but everything about this show is so much more enjoyable if you can understand and admire the depth of it. being able to do so has made me find some really cool people in the world, has helped me in accepting my own inner darkness, and not be as sensitive to heavier topics like suffering, change, death and dying; instead, i can now honor these things, find peace and a sense of beauty in them.
