I underestimated how much depression could affect my passion for devouring books until I realized I wasn't pushing 50 books a year like I normally did, I saw that the 100 books on my TBR and hadn't been on Goodreads in ages, and I couldn't open a book even if it was right in front of me. Depression, work stress, and anxiety is more than just "being in a slump"

it's always so fascinating and heartbreaking when a character in a story is simultaneously idolized and abused. a chosen prophet destined for martyrdom. a child prodigy forced to grow up too fast. a powerful warrior raised as nothing but a weapon. there's just something so uniquely messed up about singing someone's praises whilst destroying them.
