OM
When I first started school to be a Yoga Instructor, one of the first things we learned was Om. Since then I fell in love with Mantra, chanting, and the amazing benefits of the universal sound of Om. The effects are truly profound and beneficial. I always feel a sense of calm afterwards, and it’s always my favorite way to end a yoga class. The thing I love about Om is that everyone can do it and receive the benefits. I have experienced other powerful sound and vibrational healing throughout my practice, but what’s great about Om is you don’t need a gong or bowls to get started. The most powerful vibration is your own. With every thought, every word you are telling the universe what you want. The universe will match whatever vibration you put out.
“Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics.”
— Albert Einstein
Om chanting is not a religious practice. It is a universal syllable. It is a cosmic sound which initiated the creation of the universe. Om is a sacred sound of  divine. It is a mysterious expression of the infinity, timelessness, eternity and wisdom. Om mantra improves our concentration, gives peace and steadiness to our mind, reduces mental stress and clears all worldly thoughts. When the Om mantra is chanted, the frequency of the vibrations is said to be 432Hz which happens to be the vibrational frequency of everything in the universe. This scientific finding is the justification of the saying 'in harmony with the being'.

Self Reflection
So I finished my advanced yoga program. The last thing I needed was to turn in this Self Reflection Journal. Wanted to share my experience:
This school changed my life in every way possible. It was as though I was walking around with a veil over my eyes and going here gave me the knowledge and tools to remove it. I knew almost nothing about yoga when I originally decided to go to school here. I was going mostly for reiki and spiritual healing. But I never ended up in the reiki class because I got in a car accident and broke both of my feet before I got the chance. By the time I re-enrolled I decided to do only yoga in my program. (I'm sure I'll still take the reiki class someday!) The small taste of yoga I had gotten before the accident left me wanting to know and learn more about it. Fast forward to today, I have been teaching yoga for a year, and it is my true passion. I am gifted with the ability to give stillness and peace to others. I have felt a huge shift in my own life. My outlook on the world is completely different. Throughout my schooling I learned to love myself, improve the relationships in my life, focus on the positive, and trust in the universe to provide me with exactly what I need. Throughout my program all the layers of negativity I had been seeing through, all the tension held in my body, all the imaginary issues I created for myself became clear. I was able to rewrite the story my body held, and see that every "problem" in my life was simply a message. You ultimately see in the outside world what's already on the inside. By changing the inside, the outside world changed automatically. And suddenly I began to go with the flow of life rather than against it.  Yoga Nidra was one of my favorite programs. Such an amazing spiritual journey. I now know the true power of meditation...connecting to that higher power. I am forever grateful to have learned from the best teachers in such a sacred, loving space. There's always room for more growth and I can't wait to go back for Holistic Nutrition, advanced Nidra, and finally see what reiki is all about!
So that was my reflection. This school is absolutely amazing and I had so many good times there.
Here are some pics of my time there!

Pranayama
Pranayama (the regulation of the breath through certain techniques and exercises) is one of the most profound ways to bring clarity and a peaceful state of mind. Taking long deep and complete breaths brings you to the present moment and calms the nervous system. I have been practicing a different breathing technique each day of the week. It has done wonders for my state of mind.
Today's breath is Sheetali-also known as 'Cooling Breath'. It is done by curling the tongue as shown in the picture below. Inhaling through the curled tongue, and exhaling through the nose cools the body.
Sheetali Breath
Effective in cooling the the entire body, nervous system and also the brain.
Reduces stress, anger and axiety effectively.
Lowers the Blood Pressure.
Cures Insomnia and enables deep relaxing sleep.
Prevents premature greying of hair and hairfall.
Here are some other great breath techniques and their benefits:
Ujjayi (Ocean Breath)-
Increases the amount of oxygen in the blood
Builds internal body heat
Relieves tension
Encourages free flow of prana
Regulates blood pressure
Helps yoga practitioner to maintain a rhythm while they practice
Builds energy
Detoxifies mind and body
Increases feelings of presence, self-awareness, and meditative qualities
Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing)
Infuses the body with oxygen
Clears and releases toxins
Reduces stress and anxiety
Calms and rejuvenates the nervous system
Helps to balance hormones
Supports clear and balanced respiratory channels
Helps to alleviate respiratory allergies that cause hay fever, sneezing, or wheezing
Balances solar and lunar, masculine and feminine energies
Fosters mental clarity and an alert mind
Enhances the ability to concentrate
Brings balance to the left and right hemispheres of the brain
Bhastrika (Bellows Breath)
Bhastrika pranayama increases the oxygen content in the blood. Extra oxygen replenishes the entire body.
It removes blockages in the nose and chest.
It is good for asthma patients and removes inflammation of the throat.
Bhastrika increases the gastric fire and improves appetite.
Can generate heat in the body and keep it warm in cold weather.
Bhastrika improves general health and activates all the organs.
Bhastrika purifies the nadis or the energy (pranic) channels in the body, ensuring free flow of prana to all the organs in the body.
Simha (lion’s breath)
Relieves tension in the face and chest
Improves circulation of blood to the face
Keeps your eyes healthy by stimulating the nerves
Stimulates and firms the platysma
Helps prevent sore throat, asthma, and other respiratory ailments
May help treat bad breath
Is said to eradicate disease
Dirgha (Three Part breath)-
Calms the mind and body, reducing stress and anxiety
Promotes full and complete breathing
Increases oxygen supply to the blood
Helps keep the lungs healthy
Releases muscular tension
Prepares for deeper meditation

Thoughts
Do your thoughts have the power to change what happens to you or how you feel?
Interesting question... This is what I put to the test. It all started because when I go to work I usually bring my water in a Mason Jar with some sort of crystal in it. Usually some type of quartz crystal. I meditate with the crystal and then leave it in my water for a cleaner/fresher taste. All my coworkers wanted to know....What is in your water?! I wanted to give them a good answer.
So to start off I pulled up this picture
Tumblr media
Dr. Emotos water experiment
Through the 1990’s, Dr. Masaru Emoto performed a series of experiments observing the physical effect of words, prayers, music and environment on the crystalline structure of water. Emoto hired photographers to take pictures of water after being exposed to the different variables and subsequently frozen so that they would form crystalline structures. The results were nothing short of remarkable..
Then I decided to do my own experiment. This is the rice experiment. You can find tons of videos on Youtube on this. Sometimes though you need to see it for yourself to believe it.
All I did was make some rice. All the rice was made fresh at the same time with the same water. The idea is you energetically shift the structure of the water causing the rice to age in different ways. The first jar has the word love on it. I picked this rice up and talked to it daily, feeding it good energy with uplifting words, emotions, and thoughts. The second jar has the word hate on it. This jar got only cruel words and emotions. The third jar was ignored. This process continued for about 30 days. Below you can see the shocking difference in the jars!

What scientifically causes this effect??
“Science now realizes that in every cell, inside everything, even inanimate objects, there are strings of energy that wobble and wave and vibrate in different patterns, and these strings of energy make up the protons and neutrons of every nucleus. Science first “saw” these strings as one piece, called “quarks”, and awarded the Nobel Prize for the discovery of these “quarks” in 1969, but now realizes that the strings of energy come in two different shapes: a “U’ shape, and a “straight line” shape. The “U” shape imbeds itself into the cell, and this is what tells the cell to turn into a baby’s heart cell, or a baby’s liver cell, or a frog, or a penguin, or a tree! The straight line string wraps itself through the “U” shaped string (and this is a “quark”), through magnetic attraction (of the Electro Magnetic Field), UNTIL YOU, through your thoughts and choice, cause that straight string to fly out through your cells, and further out from your body, and out of your energy field, into the universe, to accomplish something or other! So, literally, your strings obey your thoughts, and fly out to attract strings that are wobbling and wiggling in the same pattern! Other strings that are wobbling and wiggling in the same frequency and pattern will flock, like a magnet, to coagulate with the other similar strings! Once there is a critical mass of vibrationally matching strings of energy, “it”, whatever it was you were intending, manifests! THIS is how your reality manifests! THIS is how the Law of Attraction works! These strings of energy is how it can be said that “God is in everything and everyplace, all at the same time”, and that “We are all connected”!”
