Personal headcanon (that you are free to reject lmao, just sharing a thought): I think textile and fabric/yarn-based artistry would also be important to the Aenar; making blankets and clothes is kind of a necessity when you’re living in a frozen wasteland. I think human crafts, like crochet, knitting, quilting, and embroidery, to an extent, would all be well-received gifts, and a go-to for any human looking to impress an Aenar (and their family).

Red = waterproof. The Aenar can't see color, but a plant extract that makes things waterproof is bright red. So, anything waterproof is red.

Textiles: there's not a lot available, so anything new would be greeted with curiosity and love! (aka if you gave an Aenar some poly-blend fabric they might marry you on the spot)

Embroidery is important! (again, not to look at but to feel, texture wise) On certain clothes it means different things. For example; on wedding regalia it tells the couple's story- on funerary wear it tells the person's deeds and life story.

So, yes, I think that if a human would gift an Aenar with textiles; hoo boy, they'd be in for a fast-track friendship speedrun.

Yeah, I’m gonna need every Aenar romance headcanon you have now. What’s the process of betrothal? What’s the courtship process? (Apologies if you’ve already answered any of these before ❤️‍🩹)

Hello! Yes I have answered some of these, but I have some new ones as well! Thanks for the ask! Short answer; weddings and betrothal has been discussed to an extent, but I'll be discussing minor headcanons here! (instead of broad ones)

As always; canon informed or adjacent- not canon at all. :3

Headcanons! Aenar = 2 modes; the most passive aggressive stuff ever or completely and utterly direct. This includes romance. So after a while of your coworker bringing you soft things and food in tupperware containers, she's gonna pull you aside and be like 'look. I've been trying for a hot second to tell you how I feel- have I not been obvious?'

Moving in together is huge. The house must be perfect- and I mean perfect. Each family member helps out- which is either a blessing or a curse. It's a huge source of stress from both parties, but at the end of the move it's a nice thing to have.

Music is important, but not for each couple. Some people compose songs about their significant other- some sculptures or poems etc. If you're not an artist don't fret; actions and words speak just as loud as gestures. A home-cooked meal or a kind word is great as well.

Food, however, is important. If you can't cook you're in deep. Aenar are all taught to be self sufficient, and this includes cooking. Good luck if you can't make casserole.

Meet Ash'er Ch'Thev! He's a character I'm playing in a rp! The guy is technically 1/2 Andorian, but was raised as an Aenar (his mom is andorian) This leads to some interesting pitfalls as he looks like an Andorian, but has no idea what Andorian manners are.

He's very squishable and I luv him already :3

Another Aenar headcanon!

Aenar don't usually have romantic partners outside of their species, but when they do it's chaos. Mostly because Aenar have a metric ton of rules and customs around romance and most Aenar have no self-awareness of how complex it is. To them it's normal and 'easy'.

Sooooo basically:

Some poor Andorian: Why is this Aenar man following me everywhere we hooked up once??

Aenar man: Why is My Betrothed being so shy?

uh and headcanons about a favorite character? Well, my whole blog is basically a Hemmer fan account, but I'll rehash some things!

I thought it'd be funny for Hemmer to have a giant family. I mean, come on, someone closed off and aloof always has a giant family in TV haha.

Others;

is good with kids

hates human pasta with a passion

molten hot showers only- if it's not the temperature of hell, he's not getting in

Hums to himself in the old songs of his people when he's stressed or fixing something (like Uhura TvT)

is good with animals but hates having pets (he's always away so it'd be hard on them)

Names machines semi-jokingly

passive agressive show-er of affection (aka 'oh look I made ur favorite meal and have leftovers! oops!' type of showing love, he'll never say it out loud)

Headcanon for the Aenar! As I've said, Aenar can't see so jewelry/decoration isn't really decoration, but a physical sensory reminder for the person! The painting up here is for a 'trial' or challenge that Aenar adults take to earn respect within the community. (I can go into detail about what each individual symbol means, but I won't for this post lol)

Aenar headcanon: soccer moms

Aenar sports are ridiculously both non-competitive and yet competitive at the same time. Depends on the situation and who you're competing with.

A game of chess with you grandmother? chill.

A game of chess with an Andorian? You must win- and you must win so hard that you bring glory and honor to your family for the next decade.

Kids soccer? chill.

Kids soccer against the family that never returned your Tupperware? 'bloodbath' is a kind word for the amount of red cards that will be pulled.

They may not allow violence, but they certainly allow some good old shoving in contact sports.

I have an Aenar dialect (actually a few including sign language) that I'd like to share if that helps!

Here's an example!

I have a pretty fleshed-out language if you want some ref sheets! :3 it is not Andorian (andorii) (like @indignantlemur) But rather a dialect of Andorii that's an Aenar thing- since they were isolated for so long I assumed their language would be vastly different
