Except that, apparently, the main conflict for Louis is not around Claudia's death. Because what changes after he sees the full picture?

Before Louis knew that Lestat took some part in the trial (it's still unclear how significant that part was, he remembers how Lestat apparently went off the script and wavered) - that means Lestat didn't love him and Claudia, right? After Louis knows that Lestat saved him - that Lestat actually loved him. What changes for Claudia? Well... nothing. Maybe Lestat loved her, yes, was it enough to save her? no. Lestat never chose Claudia. And it's okay for Louis.

We see - later - that Lestat is grieving Claudia, but Louis made the choice to forgive Lestat even before he knew that. The knowledge of Lestat loving him was enough.

And another thing AND ANOTHER THING.

is that no wonder he had to go meet lestat and get confirmation before he could begin to heal because SO MUCH of louis’ self loathing has been tied into his inability to stop loving lestat even though he was being gaslit to believe that lestat killed their daughter. HE TOLD ALL OF SEASON ONE. BELIEVING THAT LESTAT KILLED THEIR DAUGHTER. no wonder his mind had to entirely cut out that he saved lestat in 107 like it is a reality impossible to live with and then he spends all of s2 believing that the reason his daughter died is bc he saved lestat. and then in 207 he’s like I don’t know how I could’ve ever not been weak for lestat if it meant I got to have Claudia and Lestat and a life with them as my family. Penny candy isn’t the answer and again I’m kissing Lestat on the altar—Lestat proposes, but he’s the one who says yes, he’s the one who leans in and kisses Lestat, this is an active thing he did, he’s the subject. And the grief of Claudia is there because he had her and knew her and loved her and that wouldn’t have been possible if he wasn’t weak, if he didn’t kiss Lestat at the altar. And he wouldn’t ever choose an option where he doesn’t have his daughter even if it’s the more painful option. But he still loves the man he thinks killed her. But he gave her to him. BUT HE STILL THINKS. THIS MAN KILLED THEIR DAUGHTER. BUT HE SMILES REMEMBERING LESTAT SAYING WE WERE A HAPPY TRIO. EVEN THOUGH THE MEMORY IS FROM THE WORST DAY OF HIS LIFE. And lestat is wearing his wedding ring

actually when they adapt marius to the show i hope hes just as charming & nice & funny & smart as he is in the books i hope he is because thats how people like him are in real life. i dont want a 1d caricature of an abuser i want him to be likeable. i want him to be likeable & still do all the shit he does in the books. i dont want armand to hate him as soon as someone points out what he did i want it to be slow & confusing i want him to be conflicted & anxious because thats how it feels to process the abuse that happened to you when you didnt register that it was abuse. people in real life dont have a sign flashing above their heads that say BAD PERSON they are likeable, theyre sympathetic, they have social lives & beliefs & all of that, & i dont want the show to compromise how well it does breaking down the intricacies of interpersonal abuse just cause its marius. no, show how groomers are kind, how their victims can have good memories of them, how sometimes they seem like their victims savior rather than abuser, how long it takes to work out those messy feelings & how hard it is to process what happened to you. i dont want this to take the easy way out i want it to be hard & confusing & joyful & messy Goddamnit i want marius to be sympathetic & i want armand to still love him

look i understand if you like marius because this is the evil morally bankrupt vampire story. however when people argue that marius was actually really cool and chill and normal about armand i want to fight them

What if I told you all people are capable of different levels of selflessness in the relationships. What if every person was egotistical to some extent and altruistic to some extent. What if there was a scale instead of just real or not. There is no filtered "true love" that is only pure and selfless, especially in this show.
