Types of fabrics
Fabric refers to the substance that is used to make various textile product and are commonly used to make cloth, curtain and other home furnishing. It is a flexible material made by weaving, knitting, crocheting or bonding fabrics together. Fabric plays a crucial role in defining the characteristics of textile product. Some common fabric types are cotton, silk, polyester, nylon, wool, etc.,
Types of fabric:
There are two types of fabric types. One is natural fabric and another one is artificial fabric. Natural fabrics are derived from natural substances like plants, animals or minerals. Whereas artificial fabrics are created through chemical substances like petrochemicals.
Natural fabrics have a softer feel and more breathable and it is biodegradable, while artificial fabric is non-biodegradable may not be environmentally friendly.
Natural fibers are formed through biological process. Cotton is extracted from plants, silk is extracted from silkworm, wool is extracted from animals like goat and sheep.
Artificial fabrics are generated through chemical synthesis. Polyester, nylon are polymer-based fiber, rayon, viscose are regenerated fiber.
Fabrics plays a pivotal in our daily life. Whether derived from natural fibers or synthetic fibers, each has its unique characteristics like comfort and durability.
