Alexander Wang’s first Balenciaga show will be ‘intimate’

"Alexander Wang's debut collection for French fashion house Balenciaga will be unveiled in an intimate salon-style format, instead of a catwalk show.

Balenciaga has confirmed that they will not present Alexander Wang's first collection for the brand via a catwalk show.

Instead, the autumn/winter 2013 collection will be shown to press and buyers in an intimate "salon-style format", reports WWD.

Wang was appointed creative director of Balenciaga in December last year, replacing Nicolas Ghesquiere who had held the position for 15 years and turned the once-ailing French fashion house into one of the world's biggest luxury brands. At the time, Isabelle Guichot, president and CEO of Balenciaga hinted that Wang's first show may not be a full-blown catwalk spectacle, saying that the brand did not want to put the 28-year-old New Yorker "under unnecessary pressure".

Wang showed his eponymous label's autumn/winter 2013 show at New York Fashion week last Saturday."
