SMASHTOBER DAY 31: LANDMARK/THE END IS NIGH/SPIDER

And here we are. We did it. I feel like maybe I should apologise to the city of New York for taking their statue into strange Lovecraftian places, but according to all the movies, they’re probably used to all kinds of strange things happening anyway.

Now I’m going for a lie down, and a nap. Until January.

SMASHTOBER DAY 29: NAVIGATOR/CUTE BUT DEADLY/BREAK

This seemed like a really good idea, until I got to the boat. Then I regretted all of my life choices up to this point. But we got there in the end! Nami from One Piece featuring Tony Tony Chopper.

If I’d been competent, I’d have done some post-apocalyptic overgrown civilisation thing, but as I am mostly incompetent, I looked at this set of prompts and my brain went MARIOKART. I am not sorry.

SMASHTOBER DAY 26: CAMERA/CULT/BACKPACK

So… I was working on this at 4am in the morning, while feverish, and my brain finally caught up and went… “what am I doing?”. I’ve been really ill lately and it’s got to the point where really, I need to accept that while I will get these done, I will not be getting them done *on time*, and I should make my peace with that. I’m not that far behind, I should do the remaining ones at my own pace, and then fall into hibernation for the rest of the winter. So I’ll post them as I do them ❤️

SMASHTOBER DAY 25: SCARECROW/HAUNTED AI/STONE

If you use Procreate and you *don’t* have any concept art brushes - particularly a wide flat rectangle brush - then I recommend them wholeheartedly. They are so much fun to use. This one is by Mike McCain, it’s called “Vert Fixed”, I think.

Anyway, one stone-faced AI scarecrow. With thanks to Mike McCain.

SMASHTOBER DAY 24: EXPEDITION/COCKPIT/RADISH

This one need some explaining. This is the Lid of Palenque, which covers the sarcophagus of K’inich Janaab’ Pakal. It was discovered in 1952 by Alberto Ruiz Lhuillier. It’s an incredible piece of art depicting Pakal falling into the underworld at the moment of death, but for years it was famous because of the theory that it depicted him sitting in the cockpit of a spaceship. When I saw the prompts… I had to. It gave me a blister from inking it, but it was worth it.

I confess, I love this one. It’s just so very, very silly. I’m not good at silhouette-type art, but I love that I get to try all these new things during inktober.

I’m a bit poorly and burnt out, so I’m now running a late. I figure I will get this done, just at my own pace. So here’s 22. Very similar to Boots, but I like this one better.

I didn’t forget! Today was just super busy and I’m a bit fried so I ended up taking a small break. Which is why this one is slightly late, as I totally fell asleep instead of posting 😬This one turned out really cute though. I think turquoise shades just make me happy at the moment.

I know Silent Hill isn’t the first thing you think of when it comes to “retro games”, but it’s where my brain went after reading the rest of the prompts. So a little Pyramid Head/Owl mash up here for day 16.
